Saw this photo posted on Touring Plans twitter account and it makes me shake my head. This is a photo of the FP+ return line for Pirates taken at around 2:15 today.

I don't get how this is a good thing.

Holy crap! Did POTC have a long breakdown this morning? That's awful.

It's does not look acceptable...was it closed all morning?

I'm just thinking it has been down a lot this week...and maybe it just opened.

Th current standby is 30 minutes...according to the Disney app..but I have little faith in that these days

BTW...this is one of my biggest concern with FP+...rides that I used to wait 5 minutes for like PC and HM...now have crazy standby times

Anecdotal. Hasn't happened to me, so I am dismissing it. ;)

First of all, not defending FP+ here at all. I am not a fan on any level. However, just wanted to say that I was stuck in that type of FP+ return line last February and it really did move very fast. Probably took us about 10 minutes to get through the FP+ scanner.

Anyone on the ground there now for an update?

According to the disneywaittimes website, POC as a posted SB wait of 30 mins as of 2:53pm, with the actual being 29 mins (so pretty close)

So it seems like whatever caused this backup, it may have been dealt with quickly?

I'd be curious to know how fast that line was moving, how standby looked and how fast it was moving, and if all the boats are getting used or some are going by empty. Some funny things seem to happen to these rides that have queues that weren't designed for merging when they experience instability.

Probably someone arguing with a CM in front and holding up everyone.

Not sure why this is directed at fp+ lovers- it's the standby lines that people claim are getting longer due to fp+, not the fp+ lines.

It would be nice to know why that line is like that- Btw- not a fp+ "lover"- The system works well for me, so I like it. I don't love it. That sounds silly.

How long was your total wait til you boarded?

We leave in a little more than a week...we've never seen FP return lines like that, so I'm trying to get an idea of how long of a wait we're looking at with a line that looks like that.

I've not yet been to WDW with fp+. This line is jaw-dropping.

Yet when I thumb back through the twitter account I find that they reported on Oct 23 that guests are no longer being seated in the back row. They also report on Oct 23 that fp+ return time only had a 7min wait.

So I don't know if this enormous line or that tiny line is what one actually ought to expect, or if this truth is somewhere in between.

BTW, if the ride was down the standby line right next to it would have had people waiting.

Also, I don't care how fast that Fp+ line moves, it's terrible that it's snaking out into the walkways causing congestion and bad show.

OMG

Are all the rides like that? Oh No! We will only get one ride a day!

My world is crashing! What has happened?

ROFL

Yep- been in some FP+ lines that look close to that. I will say though that often the line is long before the 1st set of scanners, but once you get through those, it is clear sailing and won't even be too jammed up at the 2nd set of scanners. I think some of it comes from 1) people scanning and it doesn't turn green and then they hold up and block the line while the CMs try to sort it out, even if the CMs try to get them to move so one side of the scanners is clear and 2) people all trying to use a certain 1 of the scanners, instead of spreading out us between the usual 2 or 4 that are at the rides. I wear my magic band on my left arm, and it seems like 90% of people wear theirs on the right and all head toward the right scanners. CMs are always trying to get people to move use the left ones, but a lot of times they aren't being used and the line is backing up.

We have waited 10 minutes in line to get to the first scanner on Safari before, and then walked right on the rest of the way after making it through the scanner.

Looks like it was down for a couple hours this morning from ~10-12

No worries. I've been told time and time again that those lines move very quickly, a fact that still images just don't capture. :rotfl2:

The Pirates FP return line looked like that quite often last week when we were there. I have a picture on my phone of it once right before we used our FPs for it. It took us maybe 20 minutes to get through the FP line.
