Last october when we were testing the magic bands the wifi was pretty poor throughout the park at MK when trying to use mde or checking other websites, but we had no problems in the other parks.

If you have been recently Whats your experience with the wifi? Has it improved?

are there certain area in MK or other parks that it seems to be better?

I'd be interested in hearing more about the wifi as well.

We went in August - so no FP+ but it was madly crowded so I'm sure it was hit pretty hard and it was great. Almost no delay. We were using our iPad and the only thing was that we would sometimes have to go into the settings to change between resort WiFi and parks WiFi.

The wifi itself seemed fine in February. Had no issues with anything on my phone that requires data/internet, EXCEPT for MDE. It clearly wasn't a wifi issue, as everything else was working perfectly. I was constantly getting the blip in the network error, to the point that I just started using Disney's website on the browser on my phone instead (and that worked).

There are dead spots in the parks, but that's to be expected. The resort wifi was strong in our room, and we had no issues with it. We even streamed a hockey game using the wifi at the resort and it was decent (the signal, not the game ;)).

I was at Magic Kingdom last weekend, and used the wifi for the MDE app on the phone. I was pleasantly surprised that the wifi seems to be much improved from the last time I tried it last summer. It seemed to work fine in most parts of the park, similar to my cellular data plan. I think bringing an iPod touch or wifi iPad might be becoming more feasible now.

Epcot and Animal Kingdom have had the most noticeable dead spots for me. Probably because there are sections that are more spread out than the other 2 parks.

I have had very good results at Magic Kingdom.

I have no problem using the Wi-Fi at the parks. I turn off the mobile data on my phone to save battery and only depend on Wi-Fi. The only places I have ever had problems is when I'm deep inside the queue of an attraction. For instance, if you are about to load on Soarin' it probably won't work right there (I don't really need it to work in those locations anyway). But as far as in public areas of the park and in most buildings it's not a problem at all.

Does anyone actually do their vacation to Disney (or wherever) without using todays modern technology?

Until 10 days ago we were a family with 3 dumb phones. Now we have 3 smart phones. We held off as long as possible, but one of the factors that pushed us over the edge was the fact we are AP holders and this FP+ system is much more convenient if accessed from your own phone instead of at a kiosk.

We are a family of 4 (2A, 2teens) and only have 3 dumb phones. We are also AP holders. We are toughing it out without smartphones, but we may bring a wifi device. We have used (tested, I guess) FP+ before without tech and it was just fine. Granted, I am a planner, so there weren't many changes once we arrived at WDW...
We thought of upgrading to smartphones but AT&T is the only carrier with service where I live and that is spotty - and they want a fortune for each phone added to a contract plan or a fortune in phone rental fees for a no contract plan. I just can't justify the expense unless I give up a WDW trip. So we will do WDW without tech rather than give up a trip to pay for the tech. :teacher: Now if WDW makes it truly miserable to arrive without tech, I guess we will spend travel $ where I don't need tech... :(

I used Wi-Fi with an iPod last August, December, and again last week during the crowded Easter break week.

August & December: Rough, slow, slow to connect whenever the iPod was waked up.

Last week (since the AT&T upgrade): Fast, fast to connect on wake-up, generally great performance and coverage.

Good news in tech for a change!

On the other hand, forgot my iPod one day and signed on using my wife's and daughter iPhones - where MDE decided my wife no longer had valid admission media and refused to show me FP+ reservations or make or change them. At a Kisok - no problem. At the MM+ service center - no problem. Back to my iPod and PC - no problem. But their devices, still no good after uninstall/reinstall, so now need to put in a report to the Internet Help Desk!

Getting better day by day, since Dec and Jan visit to last week noticed a significant difference.

When we went in July 2013, my service was horrible in the parks. This last trip in February was MUCH better, I had service almost everywhere except in rides like Under the Sea Little Mermaid (which is understandable)
