DH and I will be in our tent at FW next Friday night and I'm trying to figure out what to pack. I was hoping to get away with one sleeping bag for the bottom and just a flat sheet. We are flying so trying to bring the bare minimum (only at FW for 2 nights).

Any thoughts? We were in our tent in Oct '03 but I can't remember what we did.

Are you flying or driving?

It's been kind of wet and sticky out lately, got Stan over in the gulf making trouble, and then there's 19 off in the Bahamas bringing in more rain than necessary. So make sure you got a good rain proof tent. If not, buy a tarp to toss over the top.
And you want to sleep only on a sleeping bag??? Are you out of your mind!!!
Our bedding consists of...
old sheet for the bottom, a heavier sleeping back (laid out flat), a foam matress toppers (that are about a 1/2" thick) rolls up to about the size of a sleeping bag, 1 comforter, 2 comforter, 2 or 3 sets of sheets, 1 sleeping bag - shell up, 2 sleeping bag - shell up, then our comfy jersey knit queen comforter. Then we usually use a lighter comforter to cover up with. The key to the top comforter is to kind of bunch it up, don't stretch it out.
The coolness comes from a window AC that we prop up on our tail gate, then we use a tarp to cover the front to keep the AC blowing in, and to keep it from escaping too much. and we just set the tent up with the window right next to the AC.
This is done on every trip, wether it's 1 night, 2 nights or 3 nights (which is usually our longest of stays).
Anything less comfy than that, and I think you're nuts. I don't think I could do one park on a nights rest like that. My back would be killing me. If anything at all, buy one of the mattress toppers at wal-mart, I dont think they're much more room than a sleeping bag.

... now if only I could figure out a way to bring the mattress topper we keep on our bed, which is memory foam, with egg crates that's at least 3 or 4" thick. But that doesn't roll up quite as nicely.

Flying. It's DH's idea and we're compromising :teeth:. We will have a tarp and ground sheet and an air mattress (the really small kind for backpacking).

Well, it's soggy right now but I have hopes that it will be drier by next week because we'll be there Thursday-Sunday. As far as temps go--mid to upper 80's day and mid to lower 70's night. Should be pretty good for sleeping with just a top sheet.

Maybe we'll see you there!

Just hope it doesn't decide to deflate on you in the middle of the night and you end up sleeping on the ground. If you want, get a foam topper, and put it across the mattresses to keep them together, that way you can still sleep next to each other. Or else with all the tossing and turning you might end up a foot away from each other.
Or use a full/double fitted sheet to keep them together. Just some ideas.
