How is the tap water at Disney?

Is it really chlorinated? Does it taste good? We are huge water drinkers (about 3 gallons a day for our family) and are trying to decide if we should buy water and carry it around or just refill water bottles since buying bottled water in the parks is so expensive.

Also, is there an option to get 100% juice instead of soda for CS and TS meals? Can you have a bottled water for your beverage with a CS meal? If so, what size are they?

Many people hate the taste of the water in Orlando. I don't mind it but you might. If you drink that much water you may want to look into water bottles with a built in filtration system. You can ask for ice at any CS location that offers fountain drinks.

I know that you can order juice at any TS restaurant, but I am not sure about the TS locations if you have the dining plan. I think most of them sell apple and orange juice.

To me the water is very "irony." Not only can I taste it, but I can smell it when you turn the tap on. :crazy2:

I will not drink the water at WDW. Well sometimes if I add crystal light.

I know most CS places have juice but I do not know if it is an option on the ddp. I think you could get it just about anywhere but it might get expensive.

We buy water by the gallon at the resort gift shop and buy water by the bottle as we go but we do not drink as much as you do.

I Found this on another web site:
In front of Guest Services on Main Street, there are two water fountains. The fountain on the left hand side is filtered much better and tastes much like bottled water. You can often see cast members filling water bottles when on break.
Is it true?????

We are also huge water drinkers. In fact it is the only thing I will drink other than milk. No coffee, tea, juice and only pop maybe once a month.
So we never had an issue with the water and neither did our DD2 and that is all she will drink as well. It did taste a little different but not enough for it to be disgusting. We got used to it by the end of our trip.

I think the water is disgusting. It tastes and smells like sulfer. I don't even feel totally clean after showering in it. We are big water drinkers and always buy water while in Orlando. Most restaurants do seem to have filtered water so you are fine while eating but the fountains and hotel rooms are yucky.

How people feel about the water probably depends a lot on the water they are used to. Orlando water is very different than our tap water, which I drink a lot of, therefore it may taste worse to me than other people.

ETA - Candielips - I would have thought they would have better tasting water in Durham than that. LOL

We had no problems with the water at any park except MK. (We are used to well water.) In the other 3 parks the water fountains were always cold and we had no problems. But at MK the water fountains were usually cool at best and we had a hard time getting the kids to drink it.

Will you have a stroller?

What we did that worked GREAT is this. Brought with us a large (but not huge) sports water jug - probably a gallon or so size. Before we left for the parks I would fill it at our food court with a ton of ice and the water from the soda-machine (filtered water). Even in August heat, this would last us 2 - 3 hours at the park - throw it into the bottom of our stroller. Around lunchtime, we would go to a CS place and ask for 2 - 3 LARGE cups of ice water (again, comes from soda dispensers so it is filtered and IMO tastes great) - and we would refill our jug using this.

We did end up buying SOME water, but not a lot at all. We will be stroller-less on our first trip to DLR in April - so I'm trying to find a good-sized water bottle on a strap for over the shoulder for both DH and I to wear to do the same thing without the stroller.

Water straight from the sink in your Room will most likely make you want to

BUT

The good news is that if you go to a Counter Service and ask for Ice Water (which is free BTW) the water provided here is required (by Florida resturant requirements)to be filtered.

Taste good...or at least to us it does...and it sure beats paying for Bottled water...which typically gets hot before you can finish it anyway.

I only drink water, freshly brewed unsweet tea, or adult beverages once in a while :rolleyes1

I'm really picky with water I will drink since our tap water is great at home. I may end up buying a filtered water bottle. On our last trip, I just purchased bottled water but I hate wasting the plastic :confused3

It's bad. I can actually smell the sulfer (I think) in it in the area of the bathroom. When we were there a week and a half ago we had our travel trailer. It was my first time trying to cook with it and it totally ruined spaghetti and coffee. Definitely plan on drinking bottled.

Many people complain about it but we think the water at WDW is fine. We have lived all over the country and prior to moving here we never had an issue with ANY tap water. We currently live north of Dallas and the water here tastes like dirt, we can't even use it for cooking or coffee :(
It depends on how picky you are, I guess, or what you are used to.
