how is the prime rib at Kona cooked? is it pink in the middle?
i never order prime rib b/c it always seems to be undercook for my taste- is that just they way prime rib is?

thanks

Kona is a table service restaurant - not a buffet. They will cook your prime rib to order. My dad orders his well done. Even for me, I prefer my steak rare but prime rib well done.

Oh, and the last time we had it, it was good (and their mashed potatoes are very tasty as well).

I don't recall seeing the prime rib on the menu anymore, but I had it a couple years ago cooked to my steak preference.

If they don't have the prime rib, the teriyaki steak is good, and the pomegranate pork chop is outstanding.

I don't think any of the restaurants are serving prime rib anymore. I haven't seen it on the menus lately.

Prime Rib is a huge (often 30+ pounds) roast that is slow cooked thru the day. It is always cooked to a rare (or should be) to accomidate different tastes. Most people eat Prime Rib rare/med rare, but you can ask them to cook your slice as done as you want it.
THat is why most you have had isn't "done" enough for you.
See you can't uncook the roast but you can further cook someone's piece if it is needed.
All you have to do is ask to have it cooked more. Usually they throw it on the grill or in a very hot oven to cook to order.

Love me some med rare Prime Rib!!! I am planning on having mine at Le Cellier!
