How is the monorail now?

Hi, all -

Any news on how well the monorails to MK and Epcot have been running recently? DH is tolerating a 4-day adults-only trip just to be sweet to me, and we're booked at the Poly. Thanks a million in advance!

(Wasn't sure if this belonged in the Transportation board - that seems a lot more heavy on flights and rental cars)

Monorails went down for us on 9/6. Thankfully we were stopped in the MK station so we could get off of it. We had to take the boat to the TTC, then a bus to Epcot. We were only there 1.5 other days because we left early due to Irma. Not sure if there are still ongoing issues or if that was a fluke. It was down a long time that day.

It was a little rough this summer. We were directed to a bus!

Trying to go between the two can take a long time. We were told after walking to the top of the Epcot to TTC monorail station that the next one would not come for another 20 minutes. We took the bus instead.

We were there the last week in August and it was ok with two exceptions. In one case the monorail we were on had a door that wouldn't latch. They had to take it offline to repair, unfortunately it took about 30 min to get it out of the station so the whole resort line was down for that period. The second time there was a fire alarm that went off in the contemporary and since the line goes through both mk monorails were shut down for 45 min.

When it went well it was very convenient. My advice is know the alternate forms of transportation and go there right away if a problem arises. In the case of the fire alarm we were one of the first out to the boats and were fine, but a huge line then followed once people decided it wasn't worth waiting for the monorail.

The only issue I've ever experienced with the monorail is one of the doors wouldn't open to let us on one time and we ended up having to move to other cars. That and long lines shortly after park closing.
