How is the MK Plaza Restaurant?

My husband and I are going to the World for a quick weekend getaway starting this Friday. We should arrive mid-afternoon and check in at POFQ and plan to head to MK to see the updated Haunted Mansion, Space Mtn and stick around for Spectro and Wishes.

I was thinking of trying to get last-minute ADRs at Plaza, or checking to see if we can get in as walk-ins for dinner. We've never eaten there. I know it's just sandwiches, which is fine. How is the food? Is it busy? Will we be able to score a walk-in table or should I try to call ahead?

Thanks! :goodvibes

We enjoy the Plaza! DH likes the cheese steak, I like the burger or the salad, DS likes the mini burgers. It is usually pretty busy but we have always had good service. We ate there before the P&P party in August, but we had an ADR. :)
We have never tried to walk up. I am never sure if the people standing around the podium are just standing there, or if they have ADRs, or if they are trying to get seated without an ADR.

We enjoy the Plaza. it's a little quieter than the average Disney restaurant. If you're happy with soup, sandwich and salads it should be just fine. We've always had ADrs and have often seen many people turned away when they tried for walk-up seating. Of course I would think it depends on the time of year and what special events are occuring that night. We try to get there every trip for a light meal.

The Plaza is fairly small, so I wouldn't count on being able to walk up and get a table.

I like the turkey club and the german potato salad.

We went to the Plaza for lunch in Oct. after a while of not having been there and really enjoyed it. Never have been disappointed. I love their vegetarian sandwich! I also love their ice cream sundaes! Actually the photo below (where my signature is) with my dd was taken there in Oct.

Sometimes the Main Street "characters" come in to say hello or award families with different certificates, etc. It's cute. It's always been pretty full but not terribly crowded. I've always made ADRs though. This weekend is the marathon so you might want to have an ADR just in case.

Here was 1/2 of my sandwich...it was very good!

We had ADR's for this past trip, not knowing how it would be, but we had to cancel them because we decided to do Epcot that day. I'll make ADR's for our next trip and keep them for sure! :)

We have always enjoyed our meals and our desserts there! I would nto count on walk-ins being available though.

It was funny in November when waiting for Wishes, we were talking to another family and the wife said they always loved it there but they are "not allowed" to eat there anymore.

When I asked why, she said they now do the DDP and her husband chooses the restaurant based on only booking where the entrees are the most expensive so he can claim the most for his money.

Pathetic - I mean why eat where the family enjoys when instead you can cram the most for your buck into your gut somewhere else.

Thanks for the great reviews! I think I will show the menu to my husband and see what he thinks. I may try to make an ADR for Friday night. It should work to our advantage that we won't be too picky about times, since it's just the two of us (with kids, we try to eat around 5-5:30). I'll definitely be saving room for one of those sundaes! YUMMM! :)

And I think the marathon is the 11th/12th, so we'll miss all that traffic.

OMG the picture of the "future mayor" is hysterical! She looks a heck of a lot like Bette in Hocus Pocus!

(Yeah I know - old thread, but I had to share.)

We really like the Plaza and have never had any truoble getting ADR there I know they had open tables everytime we were there. It is a small restaurant so if you are a large group plan to sit at more than one table but they will try to accomadate you by seating you at side by side tables

We had lunch there and loved it. The food is delicious. It was my son's birthday, so they had confetti all over the table and we bought a small cake (from the restaurant) for him. The cake was really good! Our waiter had the entire restaurant sing HB to him!

We really like the Plaza also. After a few days of counter service, buffets and full-blown table servcie dinners, the food here always feels "normal" to me.

We just ate there a couple of days ago for the first time and are really glad that we gave it a try. DD got the burger and enjoyed it. DH and I got the Cheesesteak and the Ruben (made with Turkey) then did a share:) and thought both were great. DS got the kids burger and was happy with it too.

The Plaza is terrific...
Burgers are really good and I liked the strawberry salad...
Make sure that you order a milkshake...they are the best ones we've had!!!

:goodvibes

We always eat at the Plaza. I think their burgers are the best I've had so far at the World! Portions are large & it's pretty quiet. I will say that "one time" my mom & I got a walk-ups in June, we had to wait about 15 minutes & then were seated. I would try to make an ADR first & if you cannot, try to walk up or call Disney Dining from your room. Good luck!

I'm glad to read the good reviews. We've not eaten here before but have an ADR for our next trip...I think for around noon. I hope we won't have to wait too long to be seated.

Anyone know if you can get a milkshake at the Plaza as either a drink or dessert on the dining plan??

Thanks

Kate

We also have an ADR there for the last day of our trip @ 11:10.....I know early but it is a 10 night trip and we will have to get ME @ around 2 pm so that is why it is so early. We are going in July and did not want to have to fight for CS the last day....and We have a DDE card so it should be about the same price (or a few $$ more) then CS but totally worth it IMO to have a nice air conditioned place to sit and eat

We've been at the Plaza a couple of times and it reminds me of Grand Floridian Cafe's baby sister. :)
