I'm finalizing all the PSs for our 10 day stay and am running low on new places to try for the family (me, DH, DS-16, DD-14). How is the Kona Cafe for evening? I'm thinking of 8pm so we can scoot over for Wishes at 10pm.

Honestly, we've eaten just about everywhere!

thanks!!

We ate dinner at Kona on our first night at the Polynesian this past Dec. My mom got the shrimp-which were wonderful and I had the chicken which was to die for. I can't really remember what my little girl ate but I know that she couldn't finish her dessert and we ended up taking it to the room to finish later. Our waiter was wonderful and very attentive. We are eating there again before the fireworks when we go back this May.
I would reccommend this restaurant. We loved it.

We love Kona for any meal although it took quite a few years before we got around to trying it for dinner...too many other favorites. Now we have dinner there each trip.

We have enjoyed everything we've ordered there for dinner. I LOVE the macadamia crusted mahi mahi. Service is usually very fast and friendly. Desserts are great and you can order specialty drinks. It is a nice choice when you have a rather tight schedule as you do that night. You should have no trouble making it to the MK by 10:00.

We have had dinner at Kona 5 times in the past 3 years. Obviously its one of our favorites!:D
The beef terryaki is my favorite, and I sustitute sticky rice for the potatoes. DH always gets the prime rib with potatos. The sticky wings are a great appetizer too.
We have always found the service and the food to be top notch at the Kona, and we love the whole atmosphere at the Poly. :D

We've had dinner there a few times, its' always been excellent. We're eating there for July 4th this year.

We tried Kona for dinner, for the first time, in January of this year. I have to say it was our favorite meal of the trip! The tropical drinks are yummy and the sticky wings...well, let me just say that my DH stopped me short of licking the plate clean of the sauce! My DH had the Teriyakki Beef and I had the Macadamia Mahi Mahi, and they were both excellent. Our DS ordered from the kids menu, and his chicken tenders were just that...huge tenders of white meat chicken and the portion was large. Our server was very friendly andattentive, but not intrusive. We will most certainly try Kona again!

It was a definate "go back to" next trip!!

DH and I have different tastes. He is a vegatarian and he really would like more than one choice at a restaruant. He got it here! I love the pacific rim food. And the girls, well anything with cheese!! LOL We were all happy with our meals. DH had the fresh spring rolls, I had the shrimp and scallops and the girls had mac and cheese (I think). Food was wonderful and the service was fantastic. Everything was done in a timely manner and anticapted our needs, especially with the little ones! We bought some KoKo Puffs to go and ate them on the beach while the castle changed colors. It was a wonderful end to a great day!

Go for it! We always have our "last night last meal" here because it's a real favorite. They bring the most amazing bread (they make it right there) covered in roasted sesame seeds and seasoned with salt and pepper. The bread alone is worth going for. The entrees are yummy and presented nicely with fresh, nice sides. The desserts all look so great it's hard to choose one -- we usually get two or three for our group of 6, and share. The servers we've gotten have been friendly and professional.

On our last trip we had a table in the middle and I faced the giant windows toward the front. I could see the tropical landscaping and the monorails gliding by -- heaven! Definitely give this place a try!

We love it! Mmmm...wasabi mashed potatoes and koko puffs! Definitely worth a try!

We've had a few dinners and one lunch here. All meals were great. For dinner I like the Asian Noodle dish. The kids love ordering the desserts - they really go all out in presentation. We also had good service here each time.

We have made the Kona Cafe a "must" for dinner at each of our previous 6 stays at WDW (and the Polynesian). Can't think of one instance where we have not been satisfied. We plan to eat there this summer when we stay (for the first time) at the Beach Club. You will have a great time. Enjoy!!

We've done both lunch and dinner there and love it!

THANKS!

I knew you'd come through. I've got the PS and am so excited after reading your posts.
Got to ask 1 more question....what's a KoKo Puff? I know I've seen it mentioned before but now want to pay more attention.
My DS-16 LOVES chocolate and I'm thinking he'd go for this.

KoKo puff is Kona's version of a cream puff. Puffs of pastry filled with custardy chocolate cream -- yum. They are served in a little pyramid and very rich.
