I would like honest opinions on the food at Akershus? DD really wants to eat with the princesses, but I'm unsure of the food options when i look at the menu. It sounds ok but nothing great. How good is it really?

I really like Akershus....they have a great salad bar.....and desserts. Main course is good as well. My favorite princess meal actually.
Give it a try.

We loved it. I wasn't sure about the menu myself, but the traditional dumplings are awesome. I loved my meal, as well. I think it was a panko crusted baked fish. It was one of the best meals we had all week.

YAY!! You are making me want to eat there more and more!

I thought it was a nice experience, with "average" quality food. Good to try on the DP, I don't think I'd pay OOP for it.

The first time we went it was EXCELLENT! My favorite meal! We ordered the traditional Norwegian meal (don't remember the name) but the next year we went back and ordered the same thing. It was completely different and not very good.

I really love Akerhaus. The salad bar is so good and has lots of sliced meats and cheeses... The entrees are good and so are the desserts. Plus, my daughter loved the princesses.

Akershus is our one must do restaurant, but we only do it for breakfast (we always make a ADR before the park opens). With that said, the breakfast items are the typical breakfast fare (they have awesome cheesy potatoes) with a cold bar that has breakfast pastries, fruits, yogurt, and cheese and meats. The food is very good and the Princess interaction is outstanding. This is one restaurant that my whole family requests when we are trying to decide on our ADRs before our trips.

We have had very good experiences at Akershus (we do dinner there). It's actually one of my DH favorites. Of course, you're not going to get gourmet food at a character meal, but we think they do a very good job.

It's also a nice change to do a character meal that is not a full buffet. (There is a cold buffet at the beginning of the meal, but then everything else is served to you.) It's also a good value if you are on the DDP, since it's 1TS and the photo package is included.

We will be back for another meal next month! :goodvibes

We were there a month ago tonight (wow, I wish I were back there) for dinner. The appetizer is great. My 5 year old loved the cheese and bread. I loved the shrimp. For dinner my dad and I had the salmon and it was really good. My mom and husband had the kjottkake (dumplings) and they really enjoyed them as well. It was an excellent meal and one we will do again. Enjoy!

I wouldnt go to character meals for the food. if your daughter wants to go, just go.

We did a lunch there it was one of the best ones!! Food and characters were great!

My family (with the exception of DS6) loved Akershus. The princess experience was amazing, and no matter the quality of the food, your DD will love it.

The food was very good, although, it looks like the menu has changed somewhat since we ate there in August 09. But the food is not the reason to go, it's all about meeting the princess. Although, the good food made it even more worthwhile.

I have done breakfast (AWSOME.. LOVED IT) and Dinner.. It was ok and nothing special. I am more of a normal eater and if it isn't something like chicken then I am not a huge fan. The time that I went I think I was a little scared of the food and I know that I left alot of it.. I loved the princess inter action though.

mmmm, we went there for dinner last August and it was so good. I got the pork chop and it was delish. DH got the norweigian dish but I did not really care for that. They had the yummiest things on the salad bar like grilled asparagus, it was so good. If you are a picky eater make sure you look at the menu first but we really liked it.
I notice the menus on allears is different from the one on the Disney site, not sure which is accurate?

We went last May, and the food was fantastic. I had the Kjottkake which was quite good (so was the glacier Vodka). My kids loved the Mickey shaped ravioli.

As for the characters, they were all quite nice and friendly. Plus you receive a complimentary photo with Belle in the lobby.
