How is the construction wall situation?

Thinking of a last minute trip leaving Feb 10. We already have a trip planned in May and looking forward to the new Pixar stuff.

I realize this is all relative, people there tend to say "it's no problem, it's great, you hardly notice it!" but......really? I was there during the CA Adventure overhaul and that was nuts. The rerouting, walls everywhere.

Weighing whether to just sit tight and wait, or go for it.

From the photos I've seen, it's pretty bad. It might not be much better in May. The mains street work should be done by then, but most rumors I've been seeing for the pier to open are saying June, so those walls might still be up on May. Although I suppose they could take the walls down even before the rides are finished if the exterior work is done, but who knows if that will happen.

We are a family who goes once a year and sometimes once every two years. We are here now and it is nothing like when they were doing the rework of CA. Yes, some of your sight lines are interrupted, but it is really ok. Paradise Pier feels a little weird, but there is so much of the rest that looks great that it is fine. Someone posted that fireworks are coming back in late February so I bet that the walls will be down by then.

it is the non-disney noise that bothers me, the machines, tools, workers yelling over the noise.....I had no problem with the walls, they were pretty and tall enough.

We just got home, there are lots of walls up. Paradise pier is like a long tunnel to toy story, but otherwise California adventure park seems okay.

I found Disneyland much more disruptive. Getting into and out of the park is packed, squishing the crowds around the walls. The hub walls are annoying too. But once you are out of that area it’s fine.

If you are going to get perfect picture opportunities I would skip, but if you want to go for rides like us, that was fine. There are lots of closures, but we still had a blast and rode tonnes of rides!

Oh, I hope so! We are going late Feb/early March

Never been to DL..going in early June. I am trying to find something that indicates completion of Paradise Pier...any news out there that is reliable at this point in time? Also, we are staying at GCV studio with our DVC membership. What rooms are good to request? Feel like such a newbie!!!!!!Any tips would be welcomed on all topics...Thanks!!

I seem to remember someone reporting that they had called Disney and were given a June date for completion (I think it was late June though, I'm thinking June 22). However, since that date isn't published anywhere and no one else has been able to get a concrete answer as far as I've seen, I would just consider it a rumor. I think the only hope for it to be open in early June is if they are aiming for a Memorial Day weekend opening. There's no specific evidence that they're aiming for Memorial Day other than that it's a holiday weekend so it seems like a good time if the construction schedule allows for it.

Hmm...I don't know if I should be excited or scared (of crowds) for our trip starting June 24. It seemed like a good time to pick at the time...

Sounds smart. That is when the lower Annual Passholder summer block starts.

I'm also visiting in June, hosting infrequent visitors from Europe. Certainly hoping the Incredicoaster (California Screaming) is done :wizard:
Incredibles 2 (the movie) opens June 15, so I expect (speculate) the Incredicoaster will be open before then.
At least Paint the Night has been confirmed to return in April.

Your first choice should be villa 6504.
Search the VGC Superthread for 6504, to find lists of recommended studios.

It depends what you’d like a view of... This thread is also helpful https://www.disboards.com/threads/villas-at-disneys-grand-californian-room-views.2906031/

I think I'm cancelling our trip next month. We live on the East coast, and don't come to DL very much. We have only been once. Sounds like it will be a downer of a trip with so many closures and walls up.
