How is the Cape May Dinner buffet?

Just wanted to add that I am Bostonian (17 years), lived minutes away from Gloucester and other little seafood towns and the Clam Bake is nothing like what we had back home BUT I went into it not expecting it to be....and I loved the food :goodvibes

Now if you want food that is just like NE go to Celebration, there is a Boston family running an amazing seafood joint and their food is flown in from NE daily and it is prepared just like back home

If you are looking for good seafood I would seriously skip this buffet. It is overpriced for the quality and freshness you get. Seafood and buffet are 2 words that should not be used in the same sentence. Go to FF or Blue Zoo

If you are expecting a traditional New England clam bake, then you might be disappointed. The offerings are not something you will find in the typical sea side restaurant.

That being said, this is one of our must do's every trip (It is my 12 year old daughters favorite). The buffet is a square. One side has salad and fresh fruit. One side has the seafood. On our most recent trip (7/5) they had steamers, mussels, clam chowder and a baked salmon offering. Also had red potatoes amd corn on the cob. The other side had BBQ ribs, baked chicken, veggies (green beans I believe) and pasta. The final side has a carving station, various breads and a kids section (chicken tenders, mac & cheese, pizza). The desserts are located near the entrance.

We have been to Cape May about 10 times. We have never been unhappy with the food. There were a few times when the service wasn't the greatest but again, no problems with the food.

another born and bred new englander here.
this buffett was not very appealing to us, just by looking at it.

1) To a New Englander, they would pass it by.
2) To others, it is a nice experience.

NOTE: Kind of like the Luau. If you have experienced a Hawaiian or Tropical luau in the South Pacific, the Poly Luau is so-so. If not experienced, then it is fun.

We are going to CMC twice on our up coming trip. Once for breakfast and once for dinner.

The last time we went there it was at the end of 8 days of the DDP and since it was our first time with the DDP we felt the need to eat everything. Which we certainly will not do this time. Anyway, we thought it was good but since we had eaten so many large meals that week we were not that keen to have another one and almost cancelled that night. We did like it enough to know that we definitely wanted to go back. So, we are all excited to go back. We had planned to just go for breakfast but Dh really wanted to have dinner there as well.

We first tried Cape May Cafe for Dinner in December of 2008 and to point out how deliciously amazing it was, we have plans to go back there TWICE next trip. There is defiantly food for everyone regardless of whether or not you like seafood. The desserts are heaven (especially the Oreo Bon-Bons). I would suggest it to everyone, if they are willing to spend a bit of money on a dinner buffet (I know how expensive they can be...).
