How is the Brown Derby? Does it have a sit down bar?

We'll be going to the Brown Derby tomorrow night for dinner - I'll try to get in the review ASAP!

We love the Brown Derby and eat there every trip. Both lunch and dinner are delicious (especially the Bleu Cheese Filet) and there is a wide variety of desserts and drinks. The bar inside the restaurant is service only. There used to be an adjoining bar (the Catwalk) but it closed to provide space for Playhouse Disney. If you are looking for a lounge, try the Tune In Lounge beside Primetime Cafe. All in all, though, you can't go wrong with the BD for excellent food, service and atmosphere.

Could not have said it better myself, LOL! I totally agree.
BTW, the Catwalk bar is supposedly opened on a very limited basis. We have never been lucky enough to experience this during many WDW trips, since the opening of Playhouse--but supposedly it is so. We greatly miss the Catwalk--very nice place to cool off with a nice drink at MGM.

Very elegant and cool - there is a fellow playing the piano and it has a very 1930ish feel. The food was fabulous and the drinks were too. I have one of the best Manhattans I'd even had there. Don't forget the Grapefruit Cake - to die for!!!!!

Unless there has been a recent change, the piano player went the way of the Catwalk Bar--gone.
The "pre-Fantasmic" Derby was a far different restaurant. Now it has a noisy, crowded, almost rushed feel to it as diners scramble to finish their meals so as to get to Fantasmic.

About the Catwalk--I've never seen it open either, tho we look every time we go to MGM.

The closing of the Catwalk bar was a sad day for me. When it got hot I would like to go into and a have a couple glasses of wine and just relax, it was rarely crowded (probably why it closed) and cool. I just recently discovered the Tune-in Lounge (don't know why it took so long as many times as I go to WDW) and while I can get drink, it is normally very crowded and somewhat warm.

I love the Brown Derby. Never had a bad meal there. The soups are consistly the best. I miss the piano player. One of my favorite memories was a holiday shopping trip I took in December one year. Had a late leasurely lunch and the piano player was the icing on the cake. Actually made me forget that I was dining in a them park.

Oh well--at least we got to see it when it had the bar and the piano player. Folks eating there these days won't get a chance to experience either.
But the food is always good, the Cobb salad excellent, and they always seem to have a beer or two that I like.

Count me in the people that miss the Cat Walt Bar and the piano player. We use to look forward to cooling off and having an adult beverage at the end of our MGM day. Use to make up stories about all the things in the bar. And the piano lady….what a talent ! ! I talked to her one time and she held the conversation with me and didn’t miss a beat on the piano. I love BD, never skip it when we are in WDW. But we don’t go for dinner. And we go for lunch as soon as it opens.
