We're thinking of going to HRH for July 3, 4 and 5. I know it will be crowded, but is it bearable? ALso, does US/IOA do anything special for the 4th like DIsney (fireworks, anything special). Thanks!

I don't think the 4th was too bad. The fireworks were fantastic.

I have stayed at the HRH twice during the July 4th holiday. The parks were crowded, but with FOTL it didn't matter at all. I don't think it was much more crowded than it was when we went later in July, The fireworks on the 4th are FANTASTIC! Trying to get through City Walk after the fireworks is a bit difficult.

Well......now that the subject came up. Are the fireworks bigger and better than they were in US during the summer? Debating on going a bit earlier next year instead of waiting til mid-July. Thanks!

Oh yes, the firework show on the 4th is much better than the small fireworks they do the rest of the summer. It was very impressive on the 4th. The rest of the summer is nothing to write home about though. In fact after the 4th, I just choose to ride the rides instead of watching the fireworks.

It is a very special show on the 4th and well worth staying for.

When we've been there on July 4th, the fireworks were set off simultaneously at US, IOA, and City Walk. Everywhere you looked there were fantastic fireworks going off. It was GREAT!

Thanks for the info! We've traveled all over just to see fireworks and amusement parks so going back to US during 4th of July would be perfect!

We were staying at RPR for the 4th this year. Since my mom was with us and she is unable to be out in crowds, we stayed at the hotel for the fireworks. We had a great view from our room in Tower 1. My mom also said she could see them from her suite in Tower 3--even though she had been told she would not be able to see them. I talked to a guy the next day who said he was able to see the fireworks from his float in the RPR pool.

I am told the fireworks are not as wide spread after the 4th. We may have been able to see more of the fireworks if we were at CityWalk...but I had heard about huge crowds and being unable to get back to the hotel for an hour, etc. I would do it again in terms of viewing the 4th of July fireworks from my room at RPR. Oh, BTW, I think we saw some of the Disney fireworks off in the distance as well!

Oh--the park crowds are bearable during the day on the 4th. Of course you will have FOTL, so that will make it that much more bearable.

Thanks so much for all the information. I'm definitely going to make our reservation for the 3rd, 4th and 5th. Then we're going to try out the new Nick Hotel for 2 days (rest days) and then onto Disney for 11 days. I think we'll be much better off doing US/IOA on the 4th than WDW!

Looks like I may have to start planning for next summer's trip already......family jumped at the idea of being down at RPR over 4th of July! Yea!!!!! :hyper:

Stayed this 4th at HRH after a cruise. We only had 1 day to do US/IOA and we went to both parks and so over half of each. It was great. Next year we do the whole disney and US for a few days. The fireworks were awesome. It was not as crowded at the parks as I thought it would be. Waited 5-8 min for any ride except maybe 20 for the Mummy.
