How is Test Track?

I am reading literature on the various rides and I am trying to decide if I want to get on Test Track. Let me add I am not the biggest thrill seeker but I am trying to be brave for my dd and younger cousin I am taking on our upcoming trip.

It's a fun ride with a moderate "thrill" aspect to it at the very end.
The thing about TT is deciding whether it's worth waiting in line.
Try FP or the single riders line for that one.

Agree with Micca. The other factor with TT is that it does still break down alot.....it's
totally computerized, so any small blip causes a ripple affect. We had to exit our car just before the thermal scan on a breakdown in Sept. My suggestion would be to try it early on an EMH day (Wed) and get a FP for later if you liked it. That ends our test...bye now!!

Test Track ROCKS!!! My DD went on it and loved it at age 7 as did my 16 yr old Step DD and my 40-ish neighbor. The 4 of us loved the ride and went a second time. The lines are very long but the ride is good so it's not too bad besides the fact that in line we're the friendly (maybe borderline obnoxious) type so we meet and talk to people from all over and that makes the time go by quickly. It's definitely a must do!! (at least once)

I love Test Track, it's one of my favorite rides! I only wish that the outside portion was longer!

I've been fortunate to only have it break down once when I was in line but it wasn't too bad of a wait, like 20 minutes which was annoying considering we had fast passes and still had to wait that long but not too bad if you are going to wait in line for a major attraction.

The only part I don't like is the brake test because the first time I went on it the seatbelt really did a number on my shoulder during that part but now I've learned just to hold the seatbelt away from my body (or sit in the middle seat) and I'm fine. I do wish they'd do away with the jerkiness at the end too now that I think about it. I really do love this ride though!

My DD was 4 when she first rode it -- not too scary for her, so you should be fine.

I love test track and Fast Passes or single riders are the only way to go. There is only the "high speed" thrill at the end, otherwise you can basically sit back and enjoy the ride. I have been on test track when it has broken down. It usually happens as we go up the hill and "increase" our speed. Funny thing was that we were practically coasting and the car was still making the squealing sound effects!

Test track is so much fun! The best part is the outside part, when you go faster (I am not quite positive on the exact speed...but its nothing you wouldn't do in a car yourself). The line is normally quite long, but arrive early or get a fast pass and that will cut down the wait time. The ride is not that intense, i always see very young kids enjoy it, as previous posters have said. you should give it a try, and have fun!

This is definitely a do-able ride. My little guy had just turned three, and we had to go on it three times, and he still was upset when we left (Pre-Christmas season December - NO line ) The "thrill" is manufactured by the themeing, not particularly fast - Disney doing what it does best.

Big Wimpie reporting! I tried it in Sept. for the first time and didn't like it at all. As a matter of fact, it was one of the first rides of the trip, and I ended up chickening out of a few other rides because of this one. Of course, I am a ride chicken, so take that into account. I didn't like the speeding up and stopping, and I closed me eyes on the end part so I was thrown around in the car a bit.

I am a big chicken when it comes to rides. Tried Thunder Mountain and was absolutely petrified but I had my eyes closed and they say it's worse that way. Haven't had the courage to try Splash Mountain yet but I did try Test Track. I love it but it is a little scarey at the end when it goes 64 mph and you have that fear that it might not stop in time. But I continue to ride it over and over again.

Thanks for the input. I am not going into August so hopefully I will have my courage built up by then. One more question about this ride...what the deal when you go up the hill? Roller coster effects or something to that nature?

When you go up the hill, it's a "durability" test on the car's engine. 26.8% incline, but you don't go particularly fast, and there's a very very small drop at the end (that you actually slow down for)

I don't agree that there is a lot of thrill in this ride. Like others have said, get a fast pass for it because the line can seem very long. The ride attempts to simulate what it would be like for you to take a car through its paces being tested for this or that, like brakes, heat absorption, acceleration, etc. It felt a bit to me like I was a passenger in a reckless drivers' vehicle. The sudden starting and stopping was not pleasant nor thrilling to me, and that heat test was the worst on a hot July afternoon. But I do think you should try it for yourself. I personally try every ride once.

Give me a Aerosmith's Rockin' Roller Coaster any day for a thrill!

I just want to say that last summer my aunt at age 85 rode Test Track with us and had a blast. I think if she can do it, you can do it!!!!!

My mom rode it several times (she's in her mid 70s) on several different trips.

That's actually one of the better desciprtions I've read of the ride. One thing about this ride is that you are told what will happen before each "test". The jerkiness mostly comes in with the antilock brake test and the cornering test. If you've ever swerved, skidded, hit your brakes fast or gone a little too fast around a corner, you have already experienced the main thrills of this ride in real life. It is one of my younger DD's favorite rides, but my older DD skips it because she said having been on it once, she knows what it's like and doesn't especially like it.

The single rider line is usually great for avoiding a long wait in line, but it would probably not be a good choice for you since you have children with you and I'm assuming you want to be in the same car with the rest of your party. They take people from the singles line to fill in spots in cars that would otherwise not be full. To discourage people from just going into the singles line to avoid a long wait, they often make sure to break up the singles line into "parties of one."

I'm a bit of a wimp & the other family that rode with us had a self confessed wimp as well. We all loved it. DD4 was not scared in the least (although she likes the thrill rides). I loved it & would do it again over & over! Not scary at all! Go & enjoy!

Testtrack........OVER-RATED!!!
