How is spectro different from Main Street Electrical Parade?

Hello,

I will be going to Disney in July. I haven't been there in 5 years so I am very excited. Can someone please tell me the difference between Spectro and the electrical parade. Many people are saying that the MSEP is much better. Thank You!

Spectro is somewhat shorter, floats are different (a more modern look to them than MSEP); otherwise we found both to be fairly good. Note that Spectro was there for years before MSEP came and thus if you went earlier than 5 years ago you might have seen it.

The music is obviously different and for me I guess that's what I dislike about spectro the most. It's missing the wonderfully upbeat and catchy tune that MSEP had.

Actually MSEP began in the 70's went away sometime in the 90's when it was replaced with spectro (we saw it in '97) then MSEP came back around '00 and Spectro came back a year or 2 later. I'm sure someone knows the exact year.

We say MSEP in Oct '99 and loved it!! Then in '01 we saw Spectro. Liked it but it just wasn't as foot tapping as MSEP. I've seen Spectro about 4 times now and really wish I could see MSEP again. I like Spectro, but it just doesn't have the same energy. The first time we saw Spectro was in '01 and on our last night. I remember thinking that it was a fitting end to our trip. Somewhat bitter-sweet. It almost felt like the park was saying good-by to us. Go figure.
