Iam thinking of booking flights with Southwest. How are they doing lately? I mean are they canceling flights like most of the others? I also wanted to know that if a lower fare comes up for the same flights can I change to the lower fare without being charged a fee?

Southwest is just fine, flying along quite happily. Have not heard of any recent cancellations.
Yes, if the exact same flight is available at a price lower than what you booked you can rebook at no charge. You would need to call them to get the procedure.

We flew them in Sept. after the 9/11 mess. Nor probs. Flying again in a couple of weeks. No hassle to get the reduced rates at all if the fare drops. However, you will get a voucher for the difference, usuable for up to one year from your original booking date.

a voucher...or if you did ticketless travel ...they will put the funds into a "holding" account which you can apply to another flight later....there are some time restrictions.....but we did this when the cost to fly to orlando went down.....we cancelled our tampa reservations.......got "credit" in the account....then used the "account" to book the lower orlando reservations.....leaving us with a slight balance which we just applied recently for another flight we are taking to baltimore next weekend...

all in all ....southwest really makes it easy to get the most for you dollar if you are "keep an eye" on their site and get their email updates on weekly offerings.....

as well ....as watching for posts by others about fare sales on this board....
