Would we be totally dissappointed with POP century around the holidays? We just stayed at POLY with one night at POR. We pretty much did not like POR. Would we be totally disappointed with POP? Are we spoiled now?;)

We always stay at Pop! We have small kids, so I'm not ready to venture to moderates or deluxe yet because Values are so animated and kid friendly! We love it! There is so much to explore. If you want a nice peaceful view, request a room overlooking the lake, it is beautiful. Hopefully you won't be "disappointed" anywhere, because you are at Disney!! I think Pop is worth a chance. I've read several trip reports in which people were nervous about Pop but ended up loving it! :)

We normaly stay at moderates, but this trip we stayed at POP, I was very apprehensive about this resort before we got there.

But I have to tell you, I loved, loved, loved it. Our room was very close to everything ( except parking).

I dont think you will be disapointed. After all your are at Disney.:cool1:

Thanks for posting this question. We are going in November and staying at POP. We stayed at Wilderness Lodge for our first trip and are apprehensive about going with a value but for the price, we wanted the extra days.

We stayed at Pop this past Christmas and it is very festive. More than the Poly INMHO. We visited all of the deluxes and I think the Pop held its own. It has a nice big tree in the lobby and lots of Mickey wreaths, etc. They play Christmas music all day everywhere on property. I think you would enjoy it.:santa:

We have stayed at the BWV, POP, & CBR. If you want to find something to comlain about at any of these resorts you can. Most of the complaints about POP or any resort are small issues and are generally resolved quickly by CM quickly. But, some people are just negative and let the small things ruin their experience at one of the funniest places on earth. My advice, if you have a complaint then tell it to a CM and let it go and go have fun!

We are deluxe people who recently stayed at Pop. We weren't expecting it to be a deluxe hotel but were pleasantly surprised with how much we enjoyed it there. The bus service was the best of all the hotels we have stayed at (GF, POR, AKL, BC) and the atmosphere was definitely Disney. Did we miss the convenience of staying on the monorail? Of course, but for a "bonus" trip we sure didn't miss the price tag of that convenience!!!

Don't expect it to be the Poly, but we liked liked it A LOT more than POR :thumbsup2

Personally, I loved Pop. As for if you'll like it, that all depends on your personality. Why didn't you like POR? If you are a hotel "snob" then I don't think you'll like Pop. If you are secretly resentful of having to stay at a value and not being at Poly, then I don't think you'll enjoy it.

I have to say my favorite is the PO resorts. There are a couple of considerations with POP.
The rooms are smaller, as is the bathroom area, only one sink. There is no small refrigerator. the rooms are not as spacious as the deluxe. All the transportation will be buses. This is a heavy family resort, lots of people around and in the halls.

The resort is nice and has several pools and a great foodcourt. Great fun icons are placed throught the resort, which children seem to love.
We are staying there soon but our budget was the main consideration. Of the Values Pop is the best.

p0p is crowded ..4 floors long elevator waits..long bus waits for the parks...food court is so noisie you have to sit out side..you will walk a mile for coffee if you get the outback..rubics cube...bit its cheep

We have stayed at Mods and Values and we absolutely no doubt love this place!:thumbsup2 I have a 4 year old and it could not be better when you have children, even if you go alone it is nice. The noise level has never bothered us and we wouldn't hesitate to complain if it did. And for the money and being on WDW property I would love to see anyone beat POP (in my opinion).

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but I have to say that I stayed in the Rubic's cube bldg and had no issues with the walk to the food court. It was about a 5 min walk, probably less.
The food court does get busy at the common meal times...7-8:30 am, then 11-1:30ish, and 4:30-6:30. But, if you can eat at more off-times you shouldn't have any issues. I've stayed at POP four times now and I've yet to have a problem with the food court seating.
The buses are probably the best of any Disney owned resort. They go directly from POP to the destination..no sharing with any other resorts or stops along the way!! You can face longish waits for the bus at days end in the parks. But, you have to understand that it's like that for all the resorts. You have a park emtpying out....there's no way they can accomodate everyone in half an hour. Someone is going to have to wait a bit for their ride back to the resort.
Also...I've stayed on the third floor of bldg 2 in 50's about as far back as you can get...that walk was the longest I've had, about 6 mins to food court. Then, I've stayed on the fourth floor of bldg 4, in 60's, facing the lake, with the bldg end facing Epcot. I never had a long wait for an elevator. Ground level in bldg 1 of 50's and in the Rubic's bldg (8 if I remember correctly).

Nope, I love POP. There is nothing about it that I don't like. I'm booked there in Sept and then again in Dec. If I don't use my DVC points, then I can be found at POP.

We have stayed at GF, CR, and Pop! We really enjoy POP more than the deluxe resorts. We do get connecting rooms at POP so we do have more room. We just thought the bus service at the deluxe resorts was terrible, so we have really enjoyed POP!

I guess the real question is why did you not like POR when compared to the Poly? If it was because you thought that the Poly was much nicer then you will most likely be disappointed.

I'm fine with POP when it comes to Value resorts. It's not too big, and the atmosphere is very energetic.

That said, IMHO, the difference in price between resorts matches the difference in what you get. Again, just my opinion.

I think you could have a great time at POP, just know that it makes the vacation a different experience. I guess the resorts have become such a significant part of the vacation for us, that we could really feel the difference when we were at POP vs. when we are at a Deluxe or DVC resort.

I think if you just go in with the right expectations and keep reminding yourself about how much money you are saving, then you can have a great time at POP!

Okay, I'll weigh in on this thread. I really did like Pop. . .stayed in the 80s (rubik's cube) section with a beautiful view of a garden and the quiet pool. It was about a 5 minute walk to the food court, the food at the food court was adequate tasting. . .like most Disney counter service, and even when crowded it wasn't a long wait and there was always an available table. The room was very clean, always kept up nicely by mousekeeping, and we had a towel animal in the windowsill upon arrival. . .very sweet. My only complaint at Pop, which most others will consider wierd is the Bus Service. I actually preferred the bus service at ASMu over the bus service at pop. . .for Pop, you are the LAST pick up area at each theme park, your line is the longest of ANY resort, and sometimes (i.e.; in the mornings if you only want to go to a particular park and ride one ride) you may have to wait FOREVER to get a bus back to your resort if no one notices that you are "waiting". I waited at AK more than 45 minutes in the A.M. for a bus back to Pop. . .and was told that I needed to tell someone I was waiting so I could get back. . .this was at 11 in the morning. . .I watched exactly 16 busses arrive from the Allstars and they picked up passengers on their way back. . .

We've done Pop twice. The first last year with my SIL and her family (admitted hotel snobs), and again this year with my MIL and just us. Last year was not the best. Our room was in the 90's-hated it. I swear it was a 15 minute walk from the food court. This year was SO much better. We did pay for preferred. Were initially by the Big Wheel (my 5yo son got to do the big wheel races when we first got there-very cool). We got moved because someone in a nearby room was smoking and it smoked up our bathroom when we were getting ready. We got moved to overlook the Hippety Dippety pool. It was a 30 second walk to the food court and pool. 3rd floor, don't ever remember waiting more than a minute for the elevator. A smidge noisy at night but not terrible. We didn't have any problems sleeping. The busses back weren't nearly as crowded. The kids, MIL and I NEVER had to stand, I think my husband and our HUGE stroller stood twice. The food court is always a nightmare but we knew that going in so we knew what to expect. Although I would LOVE to stay at AKL (my dream Disney hotel), I won't hesitate to stay at Pop again because of the price! I don't know if once I did deluxe if I'd be able to go back to value...I better just stick with Value for now!
