How is MK with no Legacy FP?

I know it has only been 2 days since the changeover of MK to FP+ only but I am curious to hear what people think.

Is it weird to only have 3 fp's for the day?

When I spend the day at MK, I usually use 7-8 fp's & cant imagine having only 3! How are the standby lines?

TIA!

The parks haven't been crowded enough to know what the effect is yet; this holiday weekend may be more telling.

We were at WDW the second week of Dec and stayed at Pop so no FP-for us. We did rope drop scheduled our FP+ for later in the day and didn't have any problems. Got to do everything with little wait. We would usually use more than 3FP- but found it nice that we didn't have to send a runner to go get them. MB worked without any problems.

We are returning in July so we know it will be more crowded.

Also looking for feedback on this.

Who's been to MK in the past 4 days? Especially anyone staying offsite?

(There was a second-hand report that someone offsite was able to get FP+ at the kiosks at two different parks in the same day. Any first-hand reports here from anyone who has tried this?)

The 16th was my oldest daughter's birthday and she wanted to go to MK so we did. The line for the first FP+ kiosk had a very long line that wrapped around and around. We went in Adventureland first and there were only a few people in line there. My advice would be go to the furthest part of the park to get them for the least crowded spot.

Wow, I would have expected that to be a low crowd day. I wonder how it will be over this holiday weekend.

It could have been a low crowd day. There are always lots of off-site guests inside the parks. There are also going to be some percentage of on-site guests who "failed to plan" and need help to get Fast Passes on the spot.

Even on a low crowd day, if everyone who needs help with FP+ goes to the kiosk right inside the gate, it's going to be have huge lines...

Has anyone tried to do this with the mobile app? If there are more than one person can you schedule them all from one phone?

I would think that would be easier than using a kiosk (or do you have to be staying on property to use the app)?

From what I've read, you need to be staying on property to use the app. Off-site guests have to go to a kiosk to get the FP+'s.

Now that I think about it, that seems like it could take an off-site guest forever to accomplish. Even if you are near the front of that line, think about it, you have 3 people in front of you saying, "No, 3pm isn't a good time for us to ride Splash, can you make it for 5 instead? No 5pm ones left? Maybe 5:30? Hmmm, well nevermind, switch the Buzz Lightyear one to 5, and make the Splash one for noon. Splash is booked at noon too? Oh gosh, let me think for a minute...."

Compared to what I'm used to as a commando tourer, it sucks.

We were there yesterday, made RD and had 6 hours of pure riding time - we did 9 rides total (including our 3 FP+), I would expect to knock off that many in 2-3 hours. Lines where there never were, takes forever to get 9 people tapped through for a ride, and limited availability for changes on the fly (I know others have expressed the opposite, perhaps because we're a large party?) so lots of racing to rides, backtracking etc.

This was the FP+ kiosk in FL at 10am - we passed by several times throughout the day and it was always this long or longer, even in the evening.

The worst part to me is that when my DS4 asked in the early afternoon to go on BTMRR, I had to say no - the line was just too long and we needed our remaining FP+ for later. With FP I couldve said yes. It was super disappointing to both of us. Our last trip this never happened - in fact the only ride I said no to was Snow White because we missed RD by 20 min and the line was 30. We are here 4n longer and other than AK, have done SO much less. The app is also getting on my last nerve - I hope they install some punching bags or tethered stress balls around the parks so you can release frustration acceptably while spending 15 min trying to change a FP+ around! :p

Wow, what a bummer.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience, but I really appreciate you taking the time to let us know how it went.

We were there this morning for DS 2nd birthday. I usually avoid MK on a Saturday like the plague, but for the birthday boy we gave it a shot.

Got there at RD and had 3 FP+ set up for 10 am and after. Had FL to ourselves and really enjoyed ourselves. By 11 am the place was a mad house! FP+ kiosk lines were so long, I'd be so upset if we had to waste our time there. Tried to use PP 11:10 FP but the line was almost to the Philharmagic exit so we passed and I changed it to Jungle Cruise which we got right on.

I know it's got to be better on slower days, but it was frustrating with the limit of 3. After those were gone we left. Lines were long and not being able to get more FP was a huge bummer.

"Ummmm, boss........... I think we're gonna need more kiosks!!"

We were there on Tuesday. It was a low crowd day so we had no problems riding everything we wanted. We were off-site guests so no scheduled FP+ in advance. Around noon we decided to go ahead and try a kiosk for some FP. No line at all. We were by Hall of the Presidents and CMs were actively soliciting people to come in. Took us about 5 min to schedule Enchanted Tales, Little Mermaid and BTMRR.

So it worked fine for us on a low crowd day when you really didn't even need FP. I think during peak season though it would not be very good in comparison to the legacy system.

I really thought they would have pulled out all the stops on this first full weekend, a holiday weekend at that, especially since this is the MK, the heart and soul of WDW.

We've done tons of past trips and usually stay onsite, however in a little over a week we will be doing only 2 days in the parks, with a park hopper and staying off site to save money before our DCL cruise. I have to say that for paying nearly $100 a day to be in a park, not having access to legacy FP is a huge bummer for us. Suddenly we feel very "second class" due to not paying $200 a night for a moderate resort in order to schedule our FP+.

In preparation for our trip, can anyone tell me WHERE the kiosks are and how many there are in the MK? We plan to do HS the first morning (Thursday) and hop to Epcot for the late afternoon/evening then MK on Friday and back to Epcot again. We realize we won't have a chance at any of the major rides at Epcot only coming into the park late in the day, but no choice. We are avoiding EMH at MK on Thursday. Another question I have is how close together can you schedule the FP+? We will be at MK at RD and only plan to stay until noon or 1pm. If we go straight to a kiosk will we be able to schedule all 3 FP for the morning hours? Any advice welcome.

We were in mk each of the past four days. The lines at the kiosks were long all over. The one by splash man were out and up the hill on the normal fp return line area, this is by the legacy machines that are covered. There are also some by the cross over near the carpets. There are cms directing people to the machines all over and actively soliciting people to step up use the machine and explain what it all means. Reminds me of the credit card reps for southwest at the airport. Lol

The machines by stitch's escape were snaking line a normal ride line. They should have a wait time listed! Same for the ones on the back side of the castle, very long lines.

Overall lines for rides were long today and we saw some bad attitudes by guests and irritated cms. Especially in restaurants.

We had everything set up in advance, so enjoyed not having to do that. Having only 3 was not good.
