How is Mara?

How is the food here. Are the items freshly prepared? Any recommendations for breakfast or lunch?

We really enjoy the food there, they offer a good choice. AFAIK it's all freshly prepared. You can also get yummy Boma desserts in the chiller cabinet

We thought Mara was WAY overpriced and we were glad we were able to drive to a grocery store for food items to keep in our room.

Do they have good food for lunch?

Very good pizza. We went down there one night for a whole pie to take back to our room. Much cheaper than room service delivery and it's the same pizza.

We ate several meals at Mara (breakfast, lunch and dinner) when we stayed at AKL and all of the food was good and there were a lot of options to choose from. I thought the price was about the same as anywhere else on Disney property. Enjoy!

Yes, Mara is CS.

I have been really pleased with The Mara. Everything I've had there has been tasty and seems fresh. There's a pretty decent selection of food too, so you aren't stuck with the same thing over and over. I'd give it 2 thumbs up

Two of my favorites at Mara are the Butternut Squash Soup and African Stew in a bread bowl. The breakfast platter is also very good.

We stopped at the AKL this past Jan to view the property and we stopped and had lunch at Mara. It was pretty good. We had the half of chicken meal. It was very fresh and delicious. I also got the Zebra Domes for dessert, they were very very good. For a quick meal, it did the trick.
