Thinking of eating here for our trip in May. What experiences have you had at Mama Melrose's?

We've always had good service. Never great, but good.

LOVE the Steak Gorgonzola, it's fantastic!!

Tried MM in September and after reading some rather negative reviews on Dis, we weren't too excited about it.

Well, it turned out to be a very nice meal, not our best, but certainly not our worst. Portions were huge in our opinion and service, like the pp said, was good, not great. The food wasn't rushed to our table and the server was attentive. The food was of good quality and cooked well, but we're not exactly picky eaters.

We got a nice table towards the back of the resort and we found the place to be rather quiet considering; we were seating soon after checking in. We noticed that the resort had both booths and tables, but we were seated at a table of four (2 people).

The resort has a lot of eye candy and it's really neat to check out everything out!

We wanted something different than the usual 50s Prime Time and Sci Fi and we were by no means disapointed!

We have had positive experiences at MM. Once as a table for two we had a really excellent meal with great service. With a larger group (4 adults, 5 young kids) it was what I'd call pretty good.

What I like about it is that it feels off the beaten path. You can really relax and recharge in the quiet atmosphere there. I am very easy to please with Italian food. I generally like all of it, so maybe I'm not the best judge of the quality.

I recommend the place for sure. It's not the most heavily themed place you'll visit at WDW, but sometimes that's a little better for a break.

We ate AT MM's in March 06 and I will not be spending my money there again this trip. Food was average at best, but when you consider what we paid for it, that just made it worst. Service was not the best, our waiter would disappear for long periods of time. We were just not impressed, going to try something different this time. Dena

We really enjoy MM as well. After not being able to get an ADR there and eating at H&V a few trips ago, we were very happy to be eating there again last trip. We'll be going there again in May and are looking forward to it. It's always been very enjoyable for us.

Ate there once and the food was just plain blah....not much flavor (Olive Garden is gourmet compared to this), served at room temp not hot, no bread and an absent minded server.

it does seem to get a few bad reviews, but I have always (3 times) found it to be a solid choice with very good (but not amazing) food ... combine it with the Fantasmic seating and it is a an awfully good choice in my opinion ... specifics ? try the flatbreads and the gorgonzola steak

We have eaten there three times and each time we have had wonderful service and a most pleasant meal (love the four cheese flatbread pizza!). This past visit they brought out a piece of some type of chocolate cake (sorry--don't remember what it was) with a birthday candle for my birthday.

We have been twice... Last time we went to do the Fantasmic Dinner Package. I feel like I would ONLY go back to do the package again because not having to wait to see the show was fantastic.

However, we really did not like the food either time we were there. We had to wait for our table both times for quite a bit even though we had reservations. The atmosphere is very nice. I like the look of the place. The service was always fine (not the best or the worst). The food was really not good. Now I am an Italian from New York and I do cook (learned from my Nana off the boat), so I guess we are a bit picky.... Both times the sauce was very dark, almost brown instead of red. The chicken was like rubber. The calamari was very oily and had no flavor. The bread was hard and cold. My dish this past time has some weird flavors going on that did not taste Italian or good. My son loves pizza and would not even try it when it came. He did not like the looks of it and I did not really blame him.

Not the best that Hollywood Studio has to offer. :sad2:

we were there last week and had a wonderful experience. My DH has food allergies and they were great. Our waitress was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable about food choices. The chef came to our table immediately to speak with us. They cooked all of our food fresh with fresh utensils and pans. they were able to tailor ingredients and bring a delicious desert to us all.

11 year old daughter scarfed down the 4 cheese flatbread. It was a yummy oven grilled flat bread pizza. Thicker than Bertuccis , yummy. chocolate gelato for desert.

10 year old daughter had plain old bowl of Penne with marnina. warm truffle cake for desert.

14 year old son and father both had the Wood grilled chicken in a 4 cheese sauce. It was wonderful-not too much sauce. I don't like it goopy like an alfredo. The flavors were yummy. The veggies were a little modified due to the allergy. son had vanilla gelato, dad had the truffle cake.

I had chicken parm- good, not great, but very filling, hot and it hit the spot. I had the tiramisu, which was great.

we were there in Dec. and the food was "ok" and the service was TERRIBLE and so slow. we thought we were going to miss fantasmic! we were eating so quickly! we will not be going here again

I ate there about 3 years ago and I didn't like it at all. The service was mediocre, the bathrooms were disgusting (don't ask), and the spaghetti that I ordered came out cold.
With all the many other great restaurants on Disney property I've been busy with those and haven't been back to Mama Melrose's.

I ate there for the first time this past Oct and loved it. I look foward to going again when I go back to DW this coming Oct. My friend and I had just stopped in there to use the restroom and decided to see if we coud eat lunch there without an ADR and only waited 5 mins for a table. Both the food and the service was great.

It's funny how split the opinion is on MM. We were there May 2007 and everything was good - really enjoyed it. We did have to wait 5 or 10 minutes past our ADR time, and it was not clear why, since it wasn't very busy. In any case, that was not a big deal.

It has sort of the look and smell (wood burning oven) as a Macaroni Grill. Unfortunately, it isn't as good.

We ate there during the Backstage Magic tour. The way the lunch is set up for the tour, lots of entrees are served family style, so we got to try a lot of different foods. It was very good; my mom even requested to eat there again during a next trip!

I am kind of surprised by the bad reviews. We had a great meal here, were seated in the back of the restaurant so it was quiet, and our server was very attentive. Never had a problem getting his attention and he quickly removed plates, etc. We did have a problem with him charging our DDP for 2 children's meals instead of 1 (I have 2 children and 1 is considered a junior - the server had counted him twice) but it was easily remedied at the resort and he apologized profusely. Even included his name on the receipt so that the CM at the resort could talk to him personally. We are looking forward to returning there in a couple of weeks.
