Ok, you know. I just thought about Labor day weekend. I am just so shocked that I picked these dates. With letting the holiday, go right over my head. Is it way overcrowded, at this time. We will be there from 8?27-9/6 Smack dab in the middle. I picked these dates, so our 2 school goers. Would not miss school. Please tell me it will be ok. I have a husband who is not such a fan of Disney, he has tried everything to cancel this trip, and the thought of overcrowded parks. May, just send him over the edge.

WDW has been setting "record attendance" over the last couple of years.

What can I say, Labor Day is still a big part of the traditional busy season at Disney.

Its going to be crowded, but people have had a great time in spite of that.

If you are in doubt, use one of the "services" (TGM, UG) and follow their "plans."

I would imagine that the crowds would thin out significantly on Monday evening as the locals head back home to go to work and school the following day. The holiday weekend itself would be crowded, though.

We have been there during Labor Day weekend for the past 4 years. The week prior the crowds are low but the weekend gets crowded. Labor Day itself is thinned out. We like going during that time. It's a great way to end summer.

Don't worry, you may experience a few busy days but most of the time you're there you should be experiencing fairly lower crowds. We love going the last week of August because of the low attendance and even though it will get busy that Friday, you'll find it emptying out a lot by that Monday with still a few days left for your vacation.

I was there this past Labor Day weekend and I had been worried about the crowds beforehand, too. I was pleasantly surprised. It really was not very crowded. Most rides were walk-on. Longest wait was at Everest. We waited about 30 minutes, and that was early afternoon, so it really wasn't bad. Have a great trip! :goodvibes

I was there this past Labor Day with my two best friends. It was fairly busy, but not terrible at all. We had a great time, and didn't wait too long for much of anything- most being 15-20 minutes or less. We did use Fastpass to our advantage whenever we could though!

I did Labor day year before last and I'm doing it this year. It was no where as bad as I thought it would be. Remember that most southern schools are back in session by that time with many northern schools heading back on Tuesday or Wednesday after Labor Day. that helps with the Post-monday crowds

You would think so wouldn't you...that's what I thought for this past Labor Day weekend. We were there through LD weekend and the entire week after - until Sept 7th (2006) and I was hoping to notice a big drop in park attendance after the wkend - well it didn't happen :scared1: . Crowds were a bit lighter but that's the best i can say. I was really put off that i could not even find 3 seats together at the pool for the majority of our stay.

Having said that - as Robo stated it is possible to have a great time despite having to share WDW with more people than you had hoped, we did. Even though we are WDW Veterans, I decided to use TGM for the first time and did find his advice very helpful in navigating the crowds. If you go knowing that you will have to hit the parks early and plan your days accordingly you should be fine - don't cancel.

As we are from the UK, we hadn't realised when we booked last year it was Labor Day during our trip. We decided to go to MGM on the Sunday and was pleasantly surprised, it was far less busy than we expected. We got to ride everything we wanted, used fast passes and had a great time.

Have a great time:cheer2:

That's interesting. I'm paying attention to this thread because I hope to go to WDW in 08, and would begin our trip right on Labor Day (as our arrival day, not a park day) or begin our trip in mid-Sept. I know that Night of Joy usually happens the weekend after Labor Day, and MNSSHP will happen in mid-Sept., but I'm not planning to attend either of those so it doesn't bear weight on my decision.

Another thing to consider... The Tom Joyner Family Reunion is held at WDW over Labor Day weekend. It brings in a good crowd of people, but they have a set schedule, and will only be in certain parks on certain days. To minimize your exposure to crowds, I would recommend getting a copy of their schedule and then avoiding wherever they are.

I didn't do this, however, and ended up at the same park with them a couple of times and it was really fine. It was more crowded than usual, but still easy to fit all the attractions in. As TGM would say, "they" didn't know how to tour the parks efficiently.

Try not to stress about it. Go, be at park openings, and have a great time!

We'll be there for the 4th time on Labor Day weekend this year.

I think the bigger crowds last year were due to the popularity of free dining. That whole week before and Labor Day weekend were busier last year than other years when we've been there at that time.

Yes, they had free dining at that time in 2005 also, but it didn't seem as though as many people knew about in 2005 as in 2006.

Since free dining has only been offered to UK guests and thru the bounce back program (which we took advantage of) and NOT to the general public ... YET ... IMHO, chances are good it will be more of a "normal" LD weekend than last year's.
