How is Kona for dinner?

We just returned from WDW and had dinner there last night. The food was really good. Don't go there if you expect a quiet dinner as it is a pretty loud place. Was heaven for us with kids as you didn't notice if they were loud or not. We both had the terriyaki steak it loved it. The kids also liked the Mickey ravioli as an option.

We just went to Kona 2 weeks ago. For lack of a better word, it sucked.

We were there on our actual anniversary date and it was the only restaurant all week that didn't acknowledge our anniversary.

We waited 50 min. past our ADR time.

Our entire dining experience was rushed and took 45 min from seating to exit.

The food came out less than 2 minutes after our order and was obviously sitting under heat lamps. It was all dried out and cold. Worst scallops I have ever had.
We really enjoyed the bread and macadamia nut butter, but the server took it off the table was we were still eating it. My father's hands were on it pulling off a piece and she took it away.
The check was brought after our second bite of dessert and we were questioned on exactly how much we were adding to the check for the tip.
There was also a manager with an electronic clipboard hovering next to our table for 15 minutes and marking every action at the tables. It was NOT a relaxing dining experience at all.
Add to it the dried up food and I would never go back for dinner again.

I wanted to like Kona. I enjoy the food at Captain Cookes CS downstairs more. At least it's hot and fresh.

Wow! I am sorry you had this experience, but after countless times at Kona, I think this was an isolated experience. We have had nothing but good food and service here on a consistent basis. Do I believe that Kona, nor any other restaurant is immune to problems - nope! I think this was just a series of mishaps and I`m sorry you experienced it as Kona really is a great restaurant.

DH really liked the wings and his teriyaki steak...I had the lo mein and wasnt happy with it because it was loaded with red peppers and way too sweet...I wish I ordered the shrimp/scallops or the mahi mahi

We have eaten at Kona at least once every trip, with the exception of our trip last week. (I'm still kicking myself over that bad decision!!!) We have always had excellent service and wonderful food. We don't have kids, but Kona seems really family friendly.
