After talking it over with the person I will be going with, I think we have decided that January '08 will be a much better month to go, rather than August '07. So it is pretty much (almost) set in stone that January is the month that we are going to DL.

Ok, so, for January I was just wondering, how is the weather? How are the crowds? (Typically) what are park times for the month of (early) January? And my BIGGEST concern: What normally gets Refurbed in January? (Or has anyone heard what will be refurbed this Jan?)

Get ready for a side story:
You know what... the last time I was at DL, Splash Mt. was being Refurbed. I was so angry. That was about 6 or 7 years ago. Just this past January I was at DisneyWORLD, and guess what... SPLASH MT. WAS BEING REFURBED!!! So I havent been on Splash Mt. in like 9 years!!!:headache:

Thats why Im so concerned about what is being refurbed in January '08. So as long as none of the MAJOR attractions are being refurbed, I should be ok!

Yep. uh hu. mmm hmm.:cool2:

:hourglass :grouphug: :dance3:

Just trying to mold my plans into the "actual" trip. pirate:

ThankX:hippie:

We went this Jan. Right after CA schools went back & no rides were down that I can think of. Splash Mountain was great we went on 5x's. We were there with unusually hot weather so it was great for us. Most days ended up around 90 with lows in the 50's-60's.

Januaru weather is... January weather. It can be fickle, but average temps are comfortable enough, be sure to pack a jacket, gloves and hat just in case. Or be prepared to have a Mickey set of those things, I love mine. We didn't need them in January, but we sure did this last Dec.

As for refurbs. Splash is getting a good cleaning and the lifts replaced now, should be opening fairly soon. So you'll finally get to ride. But be prepared for IASW or HM to be down to take off the xmas overlay. The earlier in the month you go the less likely for something to be closed for refurbs. As you approach Feb the park hours will be shorter, there will be less shows (weekends only for some) and things will start to be taken out of active duty for refurbs.

Crowds are awesome in January as long as the school breaks are over with. Second week in JAnuary gets our vote when we go after the New Year.:dance3:

Oh no! So HM will be down in Jan?

Man that really sucks. I hope it opens up during my stay.

Where do I find the refurb times?

Based on thi syear's (Jan.) schedule, I would expect that DL will end the holiday season on Sunday, Jan. 6th. Therefore, I would expect HM to close on the 7th. Most of the kids here will be heading back to school then.

Unfortunately, DL doesn't post their refurbishments with as much notice as WDW does. You'll just have to keep checking their site.

January is a great time to go. If you go before the 7th, you'll still see the decorations. As far as the weather goes, expect it to be cold (for California), damp in the evenings, and maybe rainy.

Have fun!
