How is Hollywood & Vine?

I have seen the menu on allearsnet.com, and am just wondering if it's still up-to-date. I believe it used to be a character meal, but isn't anymore. Am I right? And, is the food good?

Thanks!

Anita

DH and I ate there the weekend before last and we really liked it. I typically avoid buffets, but this one looked good and I'm not a big fan of some of the other restaurants at MGM so we decided to try it. It is NOT a character meal, and honestly, the inside really lacks the normal Disney magic-theming of most of the other restaurants in WDW. However, the food was great! The variety was awesome and everything tasted terrific. The carved beef was excellent, especially with the wine sauce, the salads were fresh, the salmon was awesome, and the sweet potato pinwheels were good too. I was very impressed. It's a challenge to save room for the dessert bar, but do try! Overall, it felt like we totally got a good deal with all the food we ate too. We will be going back!

I agree 100% w/ alladins princess. We will bo going again in august

We dined here back in March. We really didn't like or dislike it. It was just one of those, "Okay we were hungry and that was alright." meals.

The dessert bar is awesome, though! :)

I agree with the previous poster that the restaurant misses the boat as far as great Disney themeing most of the restaurants have.

I should add this is the only sit-down we have tried at MGM. We have tried most of the counter services at MGM and this is the one park that is in desperate need of some restaurant help! :(

My DW and I did a Fantasmic dining package for our trip in March earlier this year and picked Hollywood & Vine. I will agree that the décor is lacking the typical Disney flair – I’ve been to a “Whistle Stop Junction” buffet that had better theming and décor than H&V!!! But the food was pretty good, with a nice variety – there was salad and toppings, then about three meats and enough vegetable/sides to choose from to please most people I would think, and I’m pretty picky (the only GOOD food is Southern food, right? ) I had a turkey pot roast that was very good – can’t remember what DW had but she enjoyed as well. They also have a small kids area with typical kiddie foods – pizza, mac and cheese, burgers, fries, etc.

And the dessert bar was very good – plenty of variety and they kept it well stocked. Although we did want to take a big bite out of the chocolate sculpture in the big glass case of Mickey fighting Melificent! :mickeybar But there was ice cream/frozen yogurt, different cakes and crumbs, cheesecake bites, etc.

We also got in pretty close to our res time, which was good, since there was a light rain outside! :umbrella:

It was good, but nothing spectacular. Overpriced (like most dining at Disney) for what you get compared to the outside world, but overall it was good and not having to wait in line for Fantasmic was worth it (DW was in a wheelchair due to a knee injury…)

That said, we’ve not tried the other TS locations at MGM, so I don’t have much to compare it to in the same park…
