I have a special little boy who loves the Disney Jr. characters. Can you tell me if Jake and the Neverland Pirates are there? How is the food? Thanks in advance.

Can't comment on the characters, only the food. It's OK for breakfast. Other than that it's just plain awful.

I've only done dinner and there were no characters.
H & V is one of only 2 restauarants in all of WDW we will NEVER go back to.
We were surrounded by dirty, unbussed tables, our server was RUDE (Never happened before or since at Disney), hot food was not hot, cold food was not cold and the Ladies Room was filthy.
It was a miserable experience.

We were there last week. Can't comment on dinner, but the food is about what you get at Chef Mickey's for breakfast. Characters in attendance were Special Agent OSO, June(little Einsteins), Handy Manny, and Jake. Not crowded at all and there is a lot of character interaction such as singing and dancing. Lots of fun for the little ones.

We are planning on eating here on our next trip...Its basicly a fill in for us so as long as the food isnt gross, we will be okay :rotfl:

We've done the character breakfast and lunch there many times with my little boy. While the food is not the BEST in WDW...it is SSSOOOO much fun for the kids. We are very excited that Jake is there now, we can't wait to go back! I'm sure you really enjoy it...have fun!!

I have eaten there twice and both times had a unpleasant experience. It was dirty, small, and has some of the worst bathrooms in a restaurant on WDW property (2nd only to LTT), buffet was inedible, gross, not maintained well, picked over and both my DH and DS got sick- vomiting and diarreah within 1 hour of eating there.... gross. There are much better restaurants on WDW property and at DHS. Breakfast, I don't know, will probably be the standard WDW buffet fare, will probably be OK, but I'll never know b/c of 2 bad dinner experiences there I refuse to eat there again.

Ughh. What to do? I don't want to pay or use a credit on a place with sucky food but my little one loves Jake....And I have not done Chef Micky but I have heard it wasnt great either.

We went for breakfast and absolutely LOVED it. I heard so many bad reviews so I was really scared but I don't know what all of the complaints are about??? We had great service, the food was awesome (and there is a TON to choose from) and the character interaction was the best we had anywhere. We're returning on our next trip :)

We loved breakfast there last month. The food was good. (Especially this potato casserole thing.) My kids also love Disney Jr and had tons of fun. The year before we ate lunch at H & V and were not impressed.

Our breakfast reservation was for 8:00 and it was quiet as the restaurant had not filled up yet.

I plan on going again. I say if your son loves Jake, go for it! They also play music from Jake and the Neverland Pirates.

We had lunch there in August - saw Handy Manny, Special Agent Oso (our sons 2nd fav, after Mickey:)), and 2 of the Little Einsteins. No Neverland Pirates then, not sure if its changed since then. We like it, the food was good (not the best of our trip, but we enjoyed it and there were lots of selections), and the entertainment made our sons day watching the characters sing and dance to his favorite Disney jr. songs, (the braver children get up and dance with them, our son was just 3 and a little shy). But it was fun and we will likely do it again this year, we are there for the characters and the fun, the food just comes along with it.:)

We've had breakfast there twice. The food is fine - think Golden Corral. The service was very good. The character interaction is wonderful! I found nothing gross about the place either time. I would go again for breakfast. Our DGS 3 loved it.

Ok...I may book it for breakfast. I am not a fan of buffet style food at anytime but I think I will bte the bullet so we can see Jake. Now he better be there

We have only been for breakfast and the food was typical breakfast buffet - perfectly fine - not at all gross. BUT the reason to go is for the kids to sing, dance and hang out with the characters!!! If your little one loves Jake - GO, GO, GO!!! And if the food is just so-so, you may not even notice cuz you will be beaming at your amazingly happy son! pirate:

The WDW reservation site says Jake is on the list. Granted they say subject to change, but that has never happended to us at a WDW rest.

Enjoy!
Sydnerella's Mama

FWIW - We are having dinner at CM despite the bad reviews just to have a chance for the kids to meet the full gang. Might be 1st and last time, but owell....

We've been there once, and it was two and a half years ago, so I realize things could have changed since then, but...I just wanted to say DO IT! I was so scared of all the horrible things people said about H&V, and we had a wonderful, wonderful time there. It was actually our favorite character meal in terms of interaction and fun, and that was back when it was JoJo and the Einsteins and we didn't even care about them. The characters had time to come around multiple times, they actually played with my kids, and we all loved the dancing. We went for lunch and found the food to be fine. Not the best, definitely not the worst. It was a big buffet, so everyone found plenty to eat and there was tons of variety.

If Jake is your son's favorite, I wouldn't even hesitate!

We went there last month and the children in our group loved it. In fact, it was their favorite location. The characters danced with the little ones. Jake was a big hit! The food was OK - nothing to write home about, but a typical buffet. We went at lunch. There were salad items, hot choices and hoagie-type sandwiches. Overall, we will definitely go there again as a group, as the character interaction was worth it for us.

Food has always been really underwhelming for us (at lunch and dinner). The characters were fun, but the buffet choices were pathetic. Cold cuts and cheese don't cut it when you're paying Disney prices! :confused3 Also, on a side note, the chairs at the tables are ALL metal and VERY cold and hard. Not very kid friendly either.
That said, try it once. You'll form your own opinion and won't have any regrets!

We ate there last April for lunch and it was so-so. The food was standard, much better fare is served at other buffets and restaurants on property. We were seated at a table in the left corner and had NO elbow room. Also, I'm the kind of person who doesn't mix food so I had numerous plates though I ate little and our table wasn't bussed once, a bit disappointing. I booked because DD is a Disney Jr. fan but on that trip (her 2nd) she was petrified of the characters - essentially it was money wasted.

Good info! We are going in December and DS loves the Little Einsteins! Will definitely have to do breakfast there.
