How is FP+ going to work for us?

We're going down in January and available park days are January 24,25,26. We are veterans of many trips and this trip is not Disney focused, we just want to escape the Michigan winter! We are staying onsite at POR only because it was a good deal. We have non-expiring 10 day park hoppers with 2 days left on them. We'll probably do just one park day and hit a few attractions at MK, Epcot, and Studios. So my FP+ questions:

1. I assume that we need to add our tickets onto our magic bands. Correct?
2. If we only use one day, how does the remaining day work? Will this remain in our MDE account for a future visit?
3. Since we plan to go only 1 day but we don't know which day, how do we do our FP+? Can we grab FP+ reservations for all 3 days even though we only have 2 days of tickets?
4. If we get FP+ reservations and don't go to the park on that day, does it matter? I'm assuming this doesn't use a ticket day.
5. Are your first 3 FP+ reservations only available in a single park? I know this was the case at one time, is it still true?
6. We did a one day thing like this last March but stayed offsite and just ignored the whole FP+ thing. The weather wasn't great that day so crowds were light and it didn't seem to matter. I'm wondering if standby lines will be short enough that it again won't matter much. We've never been in January before.

So many questions! Thanks for any help you can offer :)

lots of answers in the big faq post search for posts by mesaboy he has it in his posts

1)Yes, you will need to add them to your Magic Bands to make FP+ reservations in advance
2)When you use the first day, the other day will remain on your account for a future visit.
3)Since you only have 2 days worth of tickets you can only make 2 days worth of FP+'s so you can make a first choice and a spare but you can't cover all 3 days.
4) As far as I know at this time, not using FP+ does nothing to future availability of FP+ or admissions on the ticket.
5) yes.
6) I wouldn't risk it. Even if crowds are expected to be low you never know about tour groups etc. I would still make FP+ reservations as a backup.

We have the same Jan dates as you do. :) Our 60 day fastpass selection window opens tonight at midnight - which means so does yours. ;)

The only ride that you really need to get a fastpass for at 60 days out is the new Seven Dwarfs Mine ride. I guarantee that there won't be short standby lines for that ride. The other rides that most likely will not have short stand by lines would be Toy Story Mania, Test Track and Soarin'.

We are going down Jan 22, 23, 24,25. My 60 opened on Sunday at 12am. I totally forgot about it and didn't book any FP until Sunday at 5pm. Tons of SDMR times open and about 3 times for A & E. This was for 7 people! I played around with my reservations this morning and still lots of SDMT left! I booked these for Sat the 24th.

We are hoping to escape MI winter - last year was brutal here! We went at the same time last year too and FL weather was about 55-60. Felt tropical after weeks of negative temps at home.
