We had planned to go in Sept., but now DH thinks May will be better before dd starts kindgergarten next fall. How are the crowds? We would be going a M - F (hate weekends at DL!). Is it warm enough in the pools to swim at DLH? Any other reasons not to go in May? It would be before Memorial Day. TIA!

Staying away from weekends will definitely improve your chances of fewer crowds. The earlier in the month the better, as some schools in the area and across the country start school earlier and get out earlier, i.e. in mi-dlate May.

The weather is gorgeous in May. That's why we, and most everyone I know, live here in So Cal. SH and I are APs at DLR and early May is one of the best times to go. Absolutely warm enough for the pools.

Let me know when you're coming and perhaps we can arange to meet up! Feel free to ask any other DLR questions! I'm new around these boards and would be happy to help.

I also suggest the Discussion Boards on MousePlanet, known as MousePad. It's a West Coast-based group mostly and you'll get ALL SORTS of help there!

Have fun!

We have gone in May and had no problems with crowds. The weather is great and kids are definitely swimming. I think May is more quite because a lot of people were there for Easter and then afterwards it is summer. Definite time to go.

Early May, before Mothers day is typically good. The weather will be plenty warm enough to swim. Warm enough for a sun burn actually.

During peak season the crowds can be a problem but the hours are longer. I believe 8AM- Midnight at DL and 10AM-10PM at CA. I believe in May the hours will probably be much shorter on the weekdays. Probably 10AM- 8 or 10PM DL and 10AM-6 or 8PM CA. I'm assuming that more rides will be down for refurbishment during non peak times as well. You might not get to see the fireworks/Fantasmic show either. Maybe Friday but probably not during the week.

I am planning a quick trip sun/mon 13,14th. Looking at my calendar 13th is mothers day. Would it be bad on that Monday 14th? Thinking my main day would be Monday. When is the 3rd Pirate movie premier in May?

We went the first week of May this year and it was great! We did swim at the DLH and the crowds were not bad at all. Have a great trip.

May and October are my favorite times to go. We stayed a few nights in May last year for the very first "Mini Food & Wine Festival" at CA Adventure and had a blast. It was warm and sunny and not too crowded - even on the weekend. Weekdays all the rides are virtual walk ons. I hope you go! :cool1:

I just booked with DVC member services for May 7-11 in a DLH standard view (didn't want to use my precious points for a view, so I'll hope for an upgrade instead!). We are very excited! We love May, Sept. and Oct. at WDW b/c of low crowds and nice weather, so we hope for the same at DLR! Thanks for the advice everyone! :sunny:
