I just booked my vacation and called to make my ADRs and I am crushed to find nothing available at Chef Mickey's during my entire stay. They offered me Park Fare and Crystal Palace instead so I took Crystal Palace and have decided to sleep on it to see if I even want to go there. Can you share your experience there and the food you ate? It will be myself and DD3. She knows who Winnie the Pooh is, just isn't all that thrilled about the whole crew...

We LOVE CP. The restaurant is beautiful and the food is great! They have an omelette station, which is fantastic and the french toast sticks or something like that (not sure of the exact name) are excellent. There is plenty of food and lots of different choices. I am sure your DD will enjoy herself.
Good luck!

do the characters do anything exciting, or do they just walk around and visit the tables?

We loved it! Great food, great enviroment and wonderful character interaction esp if you are pooh fans. I remember a charcter parade with the kids and characters last year.

Do you still think it would be worth it if DD isn't a big Pooh fan? She likes him enough, just doesn't go nuts over him. I really wanted to have a character breakfast for her so she has the experience and the food choices sound like things we like to eat, and the building itself looks beautiful....

The characters are variable, just like their Friends are ;) , but, some of the characters can be very playful... for example, when we were there in October 2007, I was using an ECV. My ECV had a removable basket, so after I parked the ECV, I carried in the basket. After we ate, we were on our way out when my wife wanted to take a picture of the topiaries that are located in the center of the restaurant. I put down the basket to give her the camera, when over comes Winnie the Pooh who decided he was curious so he picked up the basket to take a look at it. I managed to snap a picture as he picked it up & then off he went to go share a peek at the stuff in it with his friends... very cute & very playful. & before you ask, my wife & I were there alone, we don't have kids yet. So, I'd say that they can be as exciting & fun as you & they decide for them to be... you get what you give, as they say.

Here's the pic:

Enjoy the Magic & the mayhem!

very cute picture, your story made me smile :) I'm going to keep trying for Chef Mickey's, but it looks like Crystal Palace will be a nice alternative. Thank you for sharing your stories, and keep them coming if you'd like :)

Crystal Palace wins in our house hands down over Chef Mickeys anyday. We all think the food is better, the characters are great!!! We go for both breakfast and dinner every trip:goodvibes

:wizard: Crystal Palace for breakfast is a "must do" for us. The food is great. I love the puffed french toast (or whatever it's called), they make pancakes and omletes to order. The fresh fruit is also amazing. We don't go specifically for the characters but we love Winnie and friends. They visit the tables and do a little dance number. The restaurant is so bright and cheery. We just love it there.

keep these great posts coming, I am getting more excited by the minute (and am intrigued about this french toast as it is my favorite breakfast food) :)

Consider yourself lucky. We love CP for breakfast. We have done it for every trip, and are sad that we won't be there for breakfast on our next trip. (We have an ADR for dinner) It is only dh and I, and we will only be at MK at night for this quick trip.
They have a great spread. The food is very good and fresh. I love the puffed french toast. Dh likes the breakfast lasagne.
We have been to CM several times. The food is marginal at best. The only reason to go there is atmosphere and the characters.
Even my kids who love sugar, (and there is lots of sugar even on the breakfast buffet), thought the breakfast was gross.

My family were not the biggest Pooh crew fans until our trip last October. We ran into Tigger, Pooh, and Eeyore at the world showcase and they cracked us up. We made an ADR Crystal Palace and we are so excited now. Tigger is a hoot. :tigger:

we will be dining at Crystal Palace for the first time exactly 3 weeks from this minute!!!
and I am a huge pooh fan, too

Crystal Palace is our FAVORITE. We do it every year for breakfast--for the puffed french toast and because we love Pooh, but especially love Tigger and Eeyore.

While we've never been to Chef Mickey's... we absolutely LOVE Crystal Palace. So much so, that our last trip in February, we ate there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. (Not on the same day though... else I'd have popped.)

We love the character interaction and they actually pay attention to the adults as well. I always get hugs and kisses from both Tigger and Eeyore. (Okay, so I'm still a kid at heart.)

what about the breakfast pizza!!!!! it's out of this world if you like a ton of cheese mixed with your eggs. we went to cape mays breakfast after cp and we were not as thrilled with cape may. 2nd...there is nothing like walking out of breakfast and seeing all the disney action starting to unfold right b-4 your eyes!! you step out the door and you see the castle and all the people making their way into the park for the day. i love that place.

We like Crystal Palace better than Chef Mickeys:):):)

ITA.

I'd take Crystal Palace over Chef Mickey's any day. I am a big Pooh fan but besides that, I just think that the food is so much better and the characters come around a little more quickly so you're not there as long - unless you want to be.

If you are looking for Mickey at breakfast - did you try to get O'hana's? Food there is also very good but not a buffet, it's family style.
