How is Coral Reef for lunch?

DBF and I had originally planned to use one TS credit for each of us one morning at Kona for breakfast, but now that I'm thinking about it, it's probably not too smart to use a TS credit on something that's so inexpensive OOP.
We're spending the last day of our trip in Epcot and had planned on just eating lunch and dinner CS that day since we'd be out of TS credits, but now that we're not using TS credits for Kona, we can use a TS in Epcot that day. We're already eating 2 TS dinners in WS during our trip (Le Cellier and Chefs de France) so I was thinking about Coral Reef for lunch (that way we can do a quick CS dinner that night and leave for the airport). I keep hearing mixed reviews so I'm not sure if I want to try it or not. Has anyone been there for lunch? I noticed the lunch menu is a little different than the dinner menu. Or is the food ok and it's just the service that people give it bad reviews about?

We took our 3 kids for lunch in February and it was one of the best meals of the week! It was not crowded, the service was great (one of the top 2 of the week), menu had plenty of options for the kids (5, 10 and 12) and it was a nice break to sit down and relax during the madness of mid-day in the park during school vacation week. Appetizers (crab claws) and desserts (Chocolate wave) were as good as the meal. We loved the aquarium and plan to go back when we return in December.

We ate lunch there last year and my kids loved it, as did DH and I. One of our favorite meals of the whole trip. My kids were 2, 6 and 10.

I see the the menu has changed since last year - no more build your own sundae :headache: my son hates that they don't have that any more.

We're going for dinner this year. But I would recommend lunch. :thumbsup2

At Coral Reef, plus it gets my vote for most improved dining spot at Epcot. The food is great and you can't be the view.:goodvibes :goodvibes Danny

I love Coral Reef for lunch. Its nice to do Future World in the morning, then break for lunch before heading into the World Showcase afterwards. Then that night its fun to snack around the WS before Illuminations. I agree with others that the food at Coral Reef is wonderful. I always order the steak (strange in a seafood restaurant I know) and its always fabulous.

We just did this April 10th!! The food was really good and we were seated directly beside the aquarium. My six year old loved it. He had the cheese pizza and I had the crab claws (excellent) and the talapia (very good). For dessert I had the chocolate wave and it was good too but I thought I remembered last time it being served with ice cream but this time there was no ice cream. It was still good though. I also like the break during the day of going into this cool, dark place and getting out of the Florida sun for a while. I don't think you'd be disappointed.

We've done lunch at CR on 3 of our trips -- it's a "must do" for us. We love it, have never had a bad experience, and coming from the Boston area we're pretty particular about our seafood! The really lovely, lovely thing about CR for lunch -- aside from all the other positives -- is that it is dark, cool, and relatively hushed inside. What a great, reviving break it is from a hot, hectic day in Epcot!

My two cents is always to try a place that interests you -- there is simply no such thing as one restaurant that everyone universally loves.

We went there for lunch last year and it was such a hit, it was one of the two places the kids begged us to take them back to. The lobster bisque was so good, hubby has talked non-stop about wanting some all year. Hehe. My kids usually won't touch fish unless it's from Long John Silvers or fish sticks and they inhaled their meals.

DD loved her cute fishy-shaped dessert too.
