how is Chef Mickey's food?

The food is okay, nothing special but CM has a great, crowd appealing and good Character interaction. Lots of fun and the kids love it!

The dinner buffet is comparable to a college cafeteria. The breakfast buffet is semi-disgusting, unless you like all your breakfast foods luke-warm. Buffet food that isn't hot is a real turn-off for me.

Don't forget the all the canned fruit you can eat....yahoo.

Go to CM's for the character interaction, not the food. I had better food at other character meals.

We were there during Thanksgiving week for dinner and we all loved it.. I could have eaten a plate of the parmesean mashed potatoes...

We just got back & did CM for dinner for our Grandchildren. The character interaction is good, but not worth the cost & the horrible food. I tried just about everything, searching for something edible. I had to make do with salad, as everything else was pretty awful. The only people in out party of 4 adults & 2 children who seemed to find edible food were the 2 preschool children. The 4 adults starved.

After we brought the gradnchildren back & put them to bed, we ordered room service to have a decent meal.

I would never, ever recommend dinner at Chef Mickey's to anyone. There are other great opportunities to interact with characters.

Breakfast is OK although the atmosphere is too frenzied for me in the morning.

DInner food is pretty poor and the place is chaotic. There are much better choices. I'm not sure why people still keep going back to CM's.

I would never rule out going back to CM one day, but if you are chosing between CM and other restaurants, I'd skip CM. We thought the food was awful, the waiter was the worst we had on the trip and even the character interaction was minimal. Granted, they were swamped and couldn't seem to keep up with the customers (we got one refill and sat with empty glasses most of our meal, even after reminding our waiter a few times), and the buffet seemed to not be refilled too quickly either. We had a 7:30 ADR and didn't get seated until well after 8:15 too. The characters seemed the most rushed of our 6 character meals we did. Once they stopped for the initial picture and autograph, they just waived as they passed us during their rounds. All the other characters at other restaurants stopped each time they came around on their rounds. Plus Mickey didn't have his costume head on quite right and you could see straight up into the mask to see the girl playing him. This was the first time either of our kids realized there was a person playing Mickey. Luckily all the other great character meals we had made up for CM. I really would like to go back and have a good experience (so many other people seem to have glowing reviews), but I can't seem to bring myself to make another ADR there for our 2006 trips. I'd rather go somewhere where we have already had great experiences again.

I guess people keep going back because some of us have a better experience. Our character interaction was great - our DD got everyone's picture and autograph. We really liked the food (breakfast). Our service was excellent.
It was our first character meal, when we went in May. Last week we did the Princess Storybook in Epcot, and DS kept asking about Chef Mickey's (he's 4), and even remembered where it was when we drove by the Contemporary and went thru it on the Monorail.

It's not haute cuisine, but we've always foound the food to be just fine--tasty, a good variety and it's just so much fun there!

We loved Chef Mickey's. We went twice during our trip the week after Thanksgiving. Once for Breakfast and once for Dinner. I loved the carved roast beef, the mashed potatoes were very yummy as was everything else to go with it. DW would eat there every night if it were up to her.

Breakfast was also good. I liked the breakfast better there than at Donald's Breakfastosaurus at AK. Breakfast pizza,,,,,,,, YUMMMMY!!!

As for the character's. It was by far the BEST of the character meals we did (including Liberty Tree, Donald's Breakfast and Crystal Palace (though CP was also very good)).

Minnie Mouse especially was awesome. Interacting with my 3 1/2 year old DS who was almost terrified of the characters. She was able to bring him out of his shell. He had a Buzz Lightyear blaster and he pretended to shoot her with it and she litterally fell to the ground and pretended to be shot everytime he would shoot it. Then she took it from him and was shooting Mickey and all the waiters. Priceless.

Then a few days later for breakfast Chip got down on the floor and played with my 13 month old DD for a few minutes. We had a late breakfast seating and it wasn't busy. All the characters came by twice during breakfast.

My family of four does Chef Mickeys every time we go. We all love the dinner!
Parmesean potatos are soooooo good. Huge selection of food and desserts.
Last time we went the characters spent about 20 minutes at our table taking lots of pictures and acting silly with our DS(4). We always have such a good time. We usually jump on the monorail afterwards and take a nice ride to see the castle all lit up. We usually do this this first night to get the kids all excited for the upcoming week. Love Chef Mickeys

Seriously Timberlane, did you have one too many last night? Who do you think you are? If its so bad, then leave, I'M QUITE HAPPY TO REPORT YOU AGAIN.

I went to Chef Mickeys for dinner in january. I thought food was so so but everyone else in our party of 7 thought it was great! the desserts are good and the kids liked having their own buffet. So sorry about the previous poster,

Claire xx
