How is bus transportation lately at BC?

We have a minivan reserved for our upcoming trip, but I'm on the fence about keeping it. Our group is 6 adults staying 4 nights at BC then 2 at WL. We will be visiting all the parks equally. I remember bus service from BC/BW being pretty substandard several years ago. We would take the bus to MK and AK. I do like the option of leaving later than ME would pick us up for our departure but besides that I'm not sure.....

We have stayed at BC many times, but will comment only on the service from this year. We have done 3 split stays this year that have included BC, April 2018, November 2018, and February 2019. Both April and this past February the buses were great. Never waited more than 13 minutes...and the 13 minute wait was when we just missed an MK bus as we walked up to the bus platform. So bus service time wise was consistent. The November trip wasn't quite as consistent....but we were there for 2 weeks through Thanksgiving ( holiday week, so may not be a good representation.) The bus crowd wise was a different story. I feel like the buses the past two years are incredibly packed....like sardines. As long as everyone could fit behind the line the bus was a go, but honestly it was dangerous. A couple of trips people would fall when the bus would come to a stop( a man holding a stroller couldn't hold onto a rail, the bus stopped, he lost his balance. He fell then the stroller fell over on a small child standing.) It has been like this almost every trip for the past two years going to MK on the buses. Coming back to the resort the buses at midday are rarely filled. I can't comment on evenings after fireworks though, as we have skipped these for the past 2 years since DD was born. Hopefully this doesn't impact your trip. We LOVE BC, it is our resort of choice. I hope you have a great vacation!

I will edit to add, I hate resort changes without a vehicle. We don't live overly far, so normally drive. On our November trip we chose to fly, as I thought it would be easier with the baby and older son by myself.......it wasn't! Changing resorts was a pain without a vehicle to move myself....and Magical Express...yeah...never again! It probably wasn't that bad, but what would have been a 3 1/2 hour drive home ( had I taken my car) turned into a 7 hour journey home because of leaving early due to ME schedule departure for us.

Thanks so much. The recent criticism I've read has mentioned the bus to MK especially, but even if we keep the van I doubt we will drive to MK. So, do we keep the van to drive to AK, ease our hotel switch day potentially and allow us to leave later on our departure day ? Decisions, decisions.

We were there last August. I don't think we waited more than 15 minutes for a bus to or from MK or AK. We walked or took a boat to Epcot/ HS. The one time we did have to take a bus from HS (boat not running due to thunderstorm) we waited maybe 10 minutes for it to pull up.

It's ultimately up to you whether or not to keep the van but keep in mind that you will be paying $24 nightly for parking. For the day you switch hotels, you can leave your bags with Bell Services at BC and they will move them over to WL for you. If you want to go to the airport later, rideshare might be an option as well (compare costs for a trip to the airport vs. van rental before making that call would be my suggestion).

I know, hard to decide! I love parking and never having to go back to the car for the whole trip....and that was easy with just DS now 10, since DD now 1 it's almost impossible to move resorts without dedicating hours to doing so if we don't have a car. Since all of your party are adults, I would say it is definitely something to consider if you save a lot by not renting a minivan. However if it's not a ton extra to rent it, I would opt to have it just for convenience sake. You lose a couple hours each way with ME. Then, you can also have the freedom to go to the grocery to buy water etc without paying a delivery fee/ tip. Plus, while the buses to both MK and AK were great from BC this trip.....we did have a long wait at Boardwalk for an AK bus. It was 40 minutes!!!!..... Don't know what happened with that. The time up on the board just kept changing too, becoming further and further out.

We are DVC , staying on points in the villas so no parking fees.

We stayed at BC in October and the only bus trouble we had was one morning trying to go to AK. They just weren't coming. There were no times on the board or in the app and there was as CM out there with a walkie talkie. I think we waited a good 30 minutes or more for a bus to show up. This was about an hour before the park opened so there should've been lots of buses coming through. Otherwise, we never had any trouble with buses that I can remember.

We had same issue at Dolphin in February waiting for a bus to AK. Times kept getting pushed back on the sign. It ended up being a full hour waiting. It was the one day of course that I had been able to book a FP for FOP in the am. We missed the FP window but the CM let us in anyway. It might have been within the 15 minute grace period after the end of the window. We did try and rush. Not very magical.
