How is breakfast at Plaza Inn?

We will be going in August. Usually do Storytellers Chip and Dale breakfast two mornings b/c we love it so much (the characters and the food). Am thinking of doing Plaza Inn one morning instead to switch it up. Thoughts?

It's been several years now but I liked it. I'm not big on breakfast food. I would much rather have lunch or dinner food but I thought the plaza inn breakfast was good. Standard breakfast stuff that I remember. Pancakes, waffles, omelettes made to order so you could tell them what you wanted on it.

And the character interaction was great. Once they all made their rounds they then gathered in the middle of the room and had the kids come
out with them and did a little mini dance party when I was there. But that was back in 2010 when DD was 2. It's the only character dining I have ever done.

We did both on our trip 2 weeks ago and while we liked the food at Storytellers more (loved the Huevos Rancheros) we liked the character variety at Plaza more. Though we didn't get to see them all. I was prepared that this may happen but it was still a bit sad to miss some of the characters. I would do both to get a chance to try both out.

Thanks! We are not early risers so was going to do 9 AM breakfast, so hopefully in the park doing rides by 10. Do you think this will be too late to ride some rides w/out terrible lines? I think park opens at 8 am that day but the early morning hour is at Cal Adventure so hoping more people will be over there. I honestly don't think we can make it there earlier than 9. (they had one earlier seating starting at 8:40). Thanks for your advice! In the past we have been okay doing Storytellers at 8:30/ 9 and then doing park/ plenty of rides after but we are used to going in November when it's not as busy. Never been in August before.

We did all our breakfast meals at 10:15/10:30, so we got in a couple hours of rides before breakfast. We had cereal bars in the room to tide us over till we got to eat. We did the late breakfasts to serve as both breakfast and lunch, since they have so much food on them.

I feel similarly. I've done the Plaza a couple times and my last visit in '11 I was pretty disappointed both with the minimal selection/high price ratio as well as the seating (outdoor at the time). The character interaction was great - but to me, not worth the price of the meal.

Personally, I wouldn't go back unless someone in my party had a great experience. I'm much more excited about Storytellers - though I need to look into whether they serve other items beyond the buffet for breakfast.

How does Goofy's Kitchen fit into this? I was considering that for my trip in Nov.

Goofy's Kitchen sounds great. I personally just didn't want to back track (we are staying at Grand Californian hotel). I liked the idea of the Plaza as we would already be in the park. @pindecisive: you can order other things at Storyteller's, not just do the buffet :)

We stayed at DLH so we did Goofy's Kitchen for dinner on our arrival night. It was really tasty. The characters were ok. It's just the standard folks now, Goofy (out front), Minnie, Pluto, Chip and Dale inside. Pretty sure that was it. If you've done CM at WDW it's really just like that now. Completely down to a type of napkin twirling dance session.

We love Minnies Brekkie at the Plaza! The food is good, coffee is hot, and character interaction hilarious!

Have a magical time!

Minnie's on average has far more characters than the other character breakfasts (almost double sometimes), and is one of the "cheaper" meals. You can usually expect a selection from Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger, Fairy Godmother (rare character breakfast "face" character), Pinnochio, Max (goofy's son), Captain Hook (rare villain), Minnie, Chip and Dale, Rafiki, Pluto and Peter Pan (edited in the last three due to further input). I've heard of Alice and maybe Mad Hatter being there as well but haven't never personally seen her.

So yes, I think it's worth it! I personally prefer sitting inside, as the architecture is beautiful, but the outside is also very cool as you get to people watch!

As for the person who asked about Goofy's, They have a larger buffet with more selections, but less characters, however they are "big-named" characters. Minnie, Chips, Dale, Goofy, and Pluto. This is one of the most expensive character meals, but my oldest kids loves it most (prob. because of the giant dessert assortment! :D)

You guys shouldn't forget Mickey's Surf's Up at Paradise Pier! This one is my 5 year old's favorite. You get to meet Mickey (only char. breakfast to do so) and wandering around is Goofy, Minnie, Daisy (rare!), and STITCH! Stitch is a blast and makes the whole thing worth it. The food assortment is less than Goofy's, but has things the other breakfasts don't, like flatbreads, and fresh juice/smoothies, whipped cream for pancakes/waffles, and some kind of mexican breakfast dish I can't remember the name of. It's also not as expensive as Goofy's, which is nice.

No matter what you choose, you'll have blast! Have fun!

In addition to all of the bold above, we saw Rafiki. He was a blast. DGD had her stuffed Pegasus with her. He picked him up and recreated the famous Lion King scene with Pegasus standing in as a Simba. It was really cute. Hook and Pooh and the gang never came inside but we got visits from the rest.

The Plaza is great! Tons of character interaction and a pretty good breakfast too! It's also really nice to be able to walk right into the park after finishing your breakfast.

We did Minnie's last week (6-9-15) at 10:00am and saw Minnie, Pluto, Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger, Max, Chip, Dale, Rafiki, Captain Hook, and Peter Pan. The character interaction was great and the setting was beautiful, but the food was average and limited selection. If you go to Minnie's, it's for the atmosphere, not the food.

I think we will do the Plaza. I have a 9 am reservation, as we like to eat lunch in downtown Disney around 1-ish, so can't do a late breakfast. Park opens at 8 am that day. Will we still be able to ride several rides without long waits after breakfast? we have never been in August before. Just don't want to miss out on too many rides by doing a breakfast. (we do it in November w/out any issues but like I said, I've never been in August).

Peter Pan! :lovestruc That is fantastic! I always saw him leave from the CM area towards Fantasyland from Plaza Inn, but never IN Plaza Inn! Gives me hope they'll bring more characters at other locations as well.

Is Rafiki at Storyteller's too (only did this breakfast once)? I'd like to see him and always miss him at Plaza.
