I had my "I'm losing it " moment earlier this week. In the past three weeks I have spent about 5 mins in an Aldi's getting a loaf of bread. Everything else has been delivery/pickup. And I seem to be getting about 70% of the stuff I want or good enough with subs.
Early this week, I tried to order from BJS, no time slot, just any available shopper over the next 5 days. So I had no idea when it would come, and I'm freaking the items are in stock, out of stock, in stock..... I had decided I didn't want/need a few items, tried to change it and ending up cancelling. But then I found a slot for "in the next five hours" grab it.....Sat at the laptop refreshing every few mins to see if my items were still in stock and if the shop began. Not full panic attack, but heart was pounding like when waiting for the clock to tick over to grab those FPS. And we got most of the stuff, no bread items. (side note, getting a walmart pick up today, ordered three different loaves of bread, keeping our fingers crossed )
Crazy thing is , we have food in the house. We have some meat, veggies and bread dough in the freezer, we had around 40 cans of soup (half progesso/half campbell's chicken noodle/tomato), several boxes of cereal, crackers, jars of PB and jelly. On those things alone we can live several weeks. But that BJs shop seemed to be my "toilet paper" moment. So much stuff I can't control, can't go out, can't see grandkids, no church services, we are in the high risk group...........
By the way, toilet paper we have plenty...about 2 months ago with BJS was having a " save on gas" promo and some of the items we got was toilet paper and tissues.
This shop today from walmart will be the last until May. The cases are rising, The peak for PA is suppose to be April 18 and we are in one of the "hotter" parts of the state. I hoping we can just hide in the house and let the wave go around us. I know at some point we will probably get it, but everyday they find out more on how to fight the virus, the better we are in odds of winning.
I just got the walmart email....woo hoo, I got all three loaves of bread. I had chosen three different brands hoping to increase the odds. Seems no pretzels in stock. Replaced fresh califlower for frozen. Replaced 24 oz bag of frozen raspberries for the 12 oz bag , same price.
Maybe I should learn how to make raspberries jam to go with all the bread.
