Me…29 self professed Disney freak (8th trip to Disney World)
Matthew…30 loves me despite my Disney freakishness (first trip to Disney World)

Day Seven, Sept 15, 2002…How is all of this going to fit into our suitcases?
For whatever reason, something wakes me up at 5:00am. I don’t know what it was, but I sat up, looked around, for some reason, looked at the phone, and went back to sleep.

5:30am…I wake up again…this time, I look at the phone and there’s a message light flashing. I found this rather odd seeing as how there was no message when I woke up 30 minutes prior! Even though the curiosity is killing me, I ignore it and go back to sleep.

7:10am…The curiosity has gotten to me…I wake up and must check the message! It’s just the front desk letting us know that our account had been settled and we do not have to come down to the desk to check out.

7:15am…We receive our final wake up call from Mickey. How sad! We do need to get up and moving though. We have our rescheduled DVC tour this morning. Someone would be there to pick us up at 8:10am. I wake Matthew up and we both realize that we have no more clean clothes to wear except something slightly on the dressy side. Oh well…we don what we have and at about 7:30am, walk down to the food court. We’re both fairly hungry and want breakfast before we go. So we hit the food court. He had a cheese Danish and I had a blueberry muffin. They were both very good! We also filled up our mugs, him coffee, me diet coke.

It’s now about 8:00am and we decide to go and see if our ride was waiting for us yet. On our way out, we refill our mugs again (I’m telling you…I was determined to get my $10 worth!) and walk out front. Our ride is there so we head off to the Boardwalk for our meeting! I neglected to write don any names from this point on…shame on me! Our driver was really nice and talked up DVC quite a bit. Then we get to the Boardwalk and to the DVC office. We met our “rep” and toured the rooms (I want to stay in those!!!) and got the info about DVC. Although we feel that it would be a wise investment in the future, we just can’t afford to do it right now…

It’s now nearing 10:30am and we still need to finish packing up our room and check out. Our driver takes us back to ASMu and we stop to refill our mugs (I think I got my $10 worth!!) and ran back to our room. On our way out of the food court, we ran into Kathy (maxie) and Glen again, but couldn’t chat long as we had a disaster of a room to pack up! Now, how we managed to get all of that crap back into our suitcases, I will never, ever know…we leave our room a little late, but we’re out by noon.

We had an appointment to go and pick up our wedding DVD’s and photos, so we head to the chapel. The wedding consultant tends to be long winded, so Matthew and I agree that we “have an appointment” and have to be out of there quickly. We get in, see our photos, get our stuff, and we’re on our way out!

It’s now about 1:00pm and we are starving! We head back to Downtown Disney for lunch and last minute shopping. We decide on Planet Hollywood for lunch and we not disappointed. Matthew had the BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich and fries, and I had the Chicken Crunch and fries. After our meal, we wondered through the restaurant…they had a dress of Scarlett’s from Gone With the Wind! I was pretty excited…

We hike it back to the Marketplace side of DD. We hit the World of Disney and Once Upon a Toy. I had to have a Potato Head! It was so much fun seeing how much you could stuff into that box! (Hint: stuff the smaller items inside the potato! And then pack the rest of it around the potato in the box!) I managed to get 26 accessories along with a potato! That had to be my favorite souvenir. We then settled in at Ghiradelli for a sundae.

It was nearing 4:00pm and we needed to be leaving for the airport. So we reluctantly head for the car and somehow manage to stuff whatever souvenirs we had just purchased into our luggage and drove off to the airport.

Stopped at Alamo first to return the car and we’re at the airport to check in by 4:45pm. (The ticket agent noticed that we were on our honeymoon and gave us free drink coupons!) Our flight doesn’t leave until 7:15pm! Ok, so we’re early. What do you do when you’re early? Shop some more! Didn’t buy anything, so we went to our gate and camped out. We tried to watch our wedding DVD on the laptop, but the battery wouldn’t hold out and there were no outlets anywhere available for our use. We did eventually find an outlet and were able to watch the video in it’s entirety!

It’s now nearing 6:45pm. So we walk over to our gate, expecting to begin boarding soon. 7:00pm rolls around and still no boarding. Matthew checks with the gate attendants to see what was going on and she said that they were waiting on the flight attendants. It’s now approaching 7:15pm and here come the flight attendants! We begin boarding and we take off by 7:30pm. It was a very full flight and some of the passengers were grumpy at the delay as were the flight attendants. Oh well.

We land in Indianapolis at 8:40pm after a horrendously turbulent flight. Matthew and I had both pretty much slept the entire flight home. We go and claim our luggage, which thankfully all arrived with us and then go and collect our car. Now remember back on the first day how I had forgotten to leave my coupon with the car people for a discount? Well after a week in WDW, I couldn’t remember where I had stashed it! They told me that I had to have it in order to claim the discount. I, of course, had no idea where it was…they felt sorry for me and asked me if was a Kroger Plus Member (our local grocery store discount club), which I was. They were able to give me that discount which was comparable to what I would’ve got with the coupon anyway! It made me happy! So we loaded up the car and drove home…

Once at home, we unloaded the car and had to sit and watch our wedding DVD again before we could go to bed. It was 11pm by the time we got to bed! And once our heads hit the pillows, we were out…

Gosh it’s going to be hard going back to work again…

Overall, we had an awesome trip and Disney really exceeded our expectations! I don’t know if it was the hats or not, but everyone went out of their way to make us happy. We didn’t encounter any grumbly CM’s the entire time! We were disappointed that some of the attractions were down, but we understand that they have to be fixed up sometime and it’s better for them to rehab attractions in the slower seasons. We liked our hotel and it served it’s purpose, but we will most likely upgrade to a moderate next time. We like to have the extra amenities. We didn’t have the best luck with the Disney transportation, but that’s ok. It worked out for us to just drive ourselves everywhere anyway! The money that we spent on food was exactly what we had expected. I don’t have an exact total of what we spent, but we were within our budget! We didn’t purchase a lot in souvenirs. Our souvenirs were pictures for the most part. Matthew bought himself a few coffee mugs and I got my Mr. Potato Head, but that was just about it. Anything else was fairly small. We’ve already talked about going back, but we may not get back there for about another year or so. We are hoping to do a Disney Cruise soon!! We didn’t see everything that we wanted to see, but we got most of it done. The next time we go can be a bit more relaxed…

If you know anyone going to WDW for their honeymoon, strongly suggest the ears!! It worked for us!!!
