How is a villa different?

We have an upcoming trip to Boulder Ridge (cash not DVC) and I am trying to figure out how the villas are different from regular resorts. Is it just the name given to DVC resorts? Is there any benefit/disadvantage?

All studio villas (except OKW) have one queen bed and a pull out sofa. They have a kitchenette with a toaster, a mr. coffee style coffee maker, a microwave, and a fridge. One and two bedrooms contain a fully equipped kitchen, along with washer/dryer.

If you go on youtube, you will, most likely, find some very nice videos of the BRV villas so you can get a sense of what the rooms looks like. BRV is part of WL, but it's not in the main building (it is off to the side). You will have access to all of the WL amenities. The only "disadvantage" to a studio over a regular room is you only get one real bed and some pull-outs as opposed to two real beds in a regular room. As PP pointed out, however, you do get a kitchenette in the studio which you wouldn't get in a regular room. BRV is gorgeous!

Studios are also considered to be “villas” even though they are a single room.(e.g. Polynesian Bungalows & Villas are above the water bungalows and studios, no 1BRs, no regular 2BRs)

Thank you all. I realized the room configuration is slightly different but was wondering if there is anything else that I am missing. We are staying in a studio. We would have preferred the main building, but there are 5 of us and it would have been a lot more expensive.

Besides the differences others have already mentioned, the decor does tend to vary a little from the regular resort. Check out pictures of the rooms on the website to see the difference.

How big is the person who will sleep on the Murphy bed?

The sleeping surfaces will differ with one true bed, one Murphy bed and a sleeper sofa. But, I think the room size itself will probably be comparable with a “regular “ room in the main building.WL is so much fun and has a great location. WL is our all time favorite resort and I hope you have a great trip!

We've stayed at Kidani and Beach Club villas. The biggest difference to me is that there's a sitting area - I know you said you already know about the configuration, but it's the use of the room that different. We are able to sit somewhere other than the bed, can eat breakfast somewhere other than the bed or the floor, and then can clean up somewhere other than the small bathroom sink. That makes the trip more enjoyable to me, since everything feels a bit less chaotic and messy.
