How is a Disney Trip Like a Writing Desk: A PTR through Wonderland UPDATED: 9/18/10

Guess who just logged into SW and saved ANOTHER $30 on her airfare?

Which brings my total, RT airfare for this trip to a whopping...

$204.40

:faint:

I can't remember the last time I paid that little to go to Orlando. My January trip 6 or 7 years ago maybe?

Seriously. I couldn't believe it dropped AGAIN. (Not that I'm complaining.)

So, we now have $260+ in credit - $230 for BFs cxld flight and this $30. (I used the other $176 we had towards my Feb./Mar. flight). And as long as we use them by 1/28/11 they can all be used towards (hopefully) BF's flight to join me for the 1/2 marathon trip. After that date you can only apply travel funds for the person on the credit.

I'm not 'splaining this well.

So, right now we could use all the credits, currently $230 in BF's name and $30 in my name, towards BF's flight. After 1/28/11, only HE could use the $230 and only I could use the $30.

There, I think that's better.

Ok, this post is now entirely longer than I ever thought it would be so let's just end with...

:yay: for a RT Disney flight for only about $200!!

That is so very awesome!! :woohoo:

Before I did my last minute change, we had paid $330 for round trip for both of us. Southwest has been having great deals lately!

Southwest. Use your yellow luggage tags on your checked bags on the way down and YES they will be pulled off the plane and travel Magically to your resort room. If for some reason you want to hand carry your checked bags with you ON the ME then don't put the yellow tags on.

On your return flight. You can now check your bags at your resort for your Southwest flight. They will take them and get them on your flight...you won't see them until you land at Logan (I assume Logan). You will go on ME which is totally separate from the Airline Check-in at the resort. People have always smashed the 2 together but it's two different things. If you don't do the Resort Airline check-in for your bags then I strongly suggest you grab a skycab as soon as you get off the bus to help you get to the SW desk/area. It's usually the best $10 in tip money I spend on a trip!

Those little yellow babies are going on there for sure, now!

Awesome, thanks. I have Early Bird Check-in for my return flight, so I'll already be checked in but I'm thinking I can still get my boarding pass printed out by the Airline check-in group? I'll go read more on that.

Thanks Heidi!!!

WOOT WOOT for saving money! You're making me want to go and check right now to see if I can save money on my flights LOL!

To all of my East Coast readers and lurkers,

Be smart, be safe today with Earl's approach and arrival.

Our area (just inland from Cape Cod) is expecting heavy rains and increased winds starting late this afternoon and then Earl's arrival with Cat. 1 sustained winds and gusts around 1 a.m. this evening/tomorrow morning.

Unfortunately I do need to commute in to the city today but I'm hoping to only catch the beginning of the nastisness on my commute home. We'll be keeping an eye on it and will head out early as needed, I'm sure.

If we have power, maybe I'll see y'all on the DIS tonight!

Stay dry!

Nik

I was checking on my Feb./Mar. flights too but no changes there. They've only gone up since I booked them at $99 each way. I actually don't expect them to go down from there, but I'm hoping a couple of other flight times eventually open up with those rates so I can score and earlier departure out and a later return home.

Thanks for the tips!! I definitely will need to keep an eye out, I'm a SW newbie! I need all you experts to help me out!!

Please Please be safe with Earl today!!!! I'll say a quick prayer that you'll be able to get home safely before the nastiness starts and then you can just cuddle up cozy in your house for the evening!!!!!

Subscribe to their newsletter if you haven't already, sign up for DING! if you can, and definitely become a Rapid Rewards member. They tend to release discounts via e-mail on Tuesday. That's how I got the biggest drop in rates for the two RTs (when BF was still going). Our RT fares started out at $322 each and we've now saved $120/ticket!

I think you'll enjoy SW. I've never had a poor experience. I've flown JetBlue also, but they only fly out of Logan so I don't really consider it an option unless they have fantastic rates. I also flew Delta's Song, when they were still in existance. Not a good experience.

SW, in my experience, seems the most consistant of the discount airlines in terms of price and on-time history. Also, they've got great flight crews. :goodvibes I hope you enjoy it!

Stay safe!!! We've batten down the hatches here.....we're ready!!!

Hey Tink, I've been reading and just haven't had the time to post.

I love the sounds of your solo trip and, like everyone else, am so impressed by your positive attitude. This is going to be a great trip for you, and with all that's been going on, I bet you will LOVE having the "me time"! Can't wait to hear all about it.

I must look again at your ADRs. The counter/kitchen view seats at Cali sound like a great idea. Did you have Jiko plans? If so, I hear theirs are fab, too.

Crossing everything that all will go well with the application process for the new digs. Sounds great!

Stay safe today! I, too, am hoping to get home before it gets too hairy, but I'm not quite as coastal as you ;)

Congrats and the savings! And thanks for posting about Earl. I didn't check the weather yet today and of course put Nemo on the bus to school without any rain gear. Hopefully it won't hit here until after he gets home.

You too! It can do whatever it wants once I'm home and cozied up on the couch!

It might be a little wet and windy about the time the Neemster gets out since we're supposed to start getting the weather in earnest around late afternoon. But, we'll see. I haven't gotten a chance to check out the latest forecast.

Stay dry.

We need a smiley with an umbrella.

Better yet?

A Mickey poncho! :rotfl2:

You HAD to throw in the poncho.

You know how I feel about the poncho.

And even though I want to "borrow" one from you (with no committment to use it mind you, it's just that umbrellas on windy days make me homicidal...I'm no Mary Poppins (NOMRYPPNS), apparently).

It's just...ponchos...they're like people-sized Ziploc bags...or human saran wrap. And I don't know if I've ever told you about my deep-seated hatred of saran wrap. It sticks to everything but what you need it to stick to.

Want to get me really going? Put me in a room with Eli and Peyton Manning wearing classic Crocs and each holding a roll of saran wrap.

Only one person is coming out alive.

And her last name isn't Manning.

I think I know you so well, and then I discover some new neuroses that surprises and delights me all at the same time.

Saran wrap? :lmao:
