I am not sure if I have missed it but has there been much released on what the Mine coaster will be like? I am hoping it will be a big thrill coaster. I know it is located in the new expanded Fantasy Land and may be more geared for younger kids. Disney needs more big thrill rides to keep relevant with the older kids. I just don't want my kids to out grow Disney!! What is everyones thoughts or comments?

From what I've seen it will be pretty mild and kid friendly. As a side note, if there is anything that WDW needs it is not more "thrill rides". What it needs to do is stick with it's uniqueness and family orientation. Thrill rides can be found in any two bit park in the country.

Your kids may "outgrow" Disney but it will only be for a short period of time during which nothing one can do or say will be anything but lame to them. If they have had early exposure to Disney, they will be back to get something that no other place offers. Magic! :wizard:

By all accounts, you as an adult and parent should have outgrown it by now, but you haven't...neither will they in the long run.

I agree with you, thrill rides aren't that necessary in Disney. And in all reality most of what disney calls a thrill ride is still pretty tamed compared to thrill rides at places like six flags, cedar point, universal...etc....

Plus i know many adults taht love disney because they ride most of the stuff sinec they dont like the big rides or cant ride them for medical purposes.

My two sons have never outgrown Disney.

We have taken 5 trips with them ages 9 to 21.

Yeah, Disney doesn't really need thrill rides. Disney is about having rides that the entire family can enjoy together. Teenagers don't like being with their parents anyhow, so making rides just for them is not really cost effective for Disney. Disney's better off letting the teenagers run amok in Universal for a few years, and then when the novelty wears off, go back to Disney World when they can spend their own money there.

Though I wouldn't worry about outgrowing Disney, there's always IOA if you need bigger coasters close by. We love both Disney and US/IOA/SW. IOA is our favorite park out of all 7, followed closely by Epcot, even though the two are totally different. (We're far from teens though). There's also always water parks if you want to add something in. It may be that the kids need less time in MK as they get older - or they may not. But I can't imagine wanting to skip MK completely at any age!

My sons have been going to Disney since they were toddlers, they are now 22(military) and 20(college). They still want to go with myself and their 2 younger sisters, now they don't mind running over to IOA for a day of thrill rides but they always come back home to Disney. I think the Dwarf ride will be equal in intensity to BTM.

My kids are almost 21 and 17. They LOVE thrill rides and we live close to 2 parks with HUGE coasters. That being said, they visit those parks perhaps once a year and never ask when are we going back or if they can go without us, which they certainly could. On the other hand, they constantly ask when we are going back to Disney. Or one will say, "i wish I were in Disney World right now..." Totally different experience. They do all the attractions at the Disney parks, big or small and some of their favorites are the tamer ones like Pirates. They love TOT and SM of course but never complain about the tamer ones. It's about the time together and the memories we share from past trips and the memories we build with each new trip.

I am hoping it is more on line with BTMRR. I love the theme and it is not too crazy of a ride. I grew up loving rollercoasters, the bigger and faster the better... I have now been going to WDW for many years and find myself enjoying SM, RRC etc much less that I used to :sad1:

I too hope it will be a family friendly type of coaster. I don't go to MK for thrill rides. I get my rollercoaster fix at IOA.
:cool1:

I was actually hoping it had the same intensity as BTMR. The 3 big mountain rides have such long lines. I was hoping for a 4th that would be equivalent to the others.

Thats just one opinion. I don't think there is a ride anywhere thats like it so no one knows exactly. Its all simulation at this point.

Funny you would worry about that.....Disney and the magic is so much more then thrill rides, Disney doesnt need to worry about thrill rides as long as they never lose the Magic............

my kids have never outgrown Disney. In fact we have brought thier friends when they were teenagers and they all now are Disney fans.......

With all do repect,if you need/want thrill rides........6 flags still have a few parks open!

I saw a demo at D23 last year. There's alot of side to side rocking, kind of like a cradle.

From what I've seen, it will not be a big thrill ride. I would say a step down from Big Thunder and a step up from Barnstormer.

Here's a short video from last year's D23:

This sounds right to me. I think the thing that will set it apart from those two attractions will be some state of the art visual effects. I think people will be so blown away by the art that they won't notice the ride vehicles are pretty tame.:earsboy:

From what I have read and heard it sounds to me like a combo coaster/tamer Dinosauer/indy

Moving as this s speculation and therefore not part of trip planning for now :goodvibes

I have been going to Disney since I was 7. I am now 34. I have never (and will never) outgrow Disney. No worries. :goodvibes
