How intense is rocknroller coaster?

One thing to remember with a "catapult launch" is to keep your head back against the headrest when the ride starts. That way, your head doesn't snap back and your neck won't hurt.
I'll add one thing to this - you want to be *exhaling* at the launch, rather than inhaling. The latter can cause a really unpleasant sensation for some - my wife included. When you hear the coundown from Steven Tyler, start slowly exhaling when he gets to "two!", because the launch happens at "one", not "zero".

Correct. Always exhale during the launch. Better yet, scream or yell. It helps during big drops on other rides, also.

I would say it's a tad less intense than Everest - the backwards part of that one really does a number on me!

Everest is most intense in the last car. The front cars aren't as bad IMHO. Never ridden RnR, but want to try it some time. If it is truly less intense than Everest, it should be fun.

Yeah, I think that's true - but regardless of where I sit I can only do it once and try to avoid the back car!

I'm a recovering coaster wimp and have done all of the coasters at WDW. I finally got accustomed to SM, and the theming at EE is so cool I almost always go on it. RnRC is the one that I've done once and likely won't visit again. I like Aerosmith and loud music, it's cool that there's an attraction devoted to them, I just don't like inversions and the insane blast off. FWIW BTMR is probably my #3 attraction in all of WDW. :earsboy:

I will just point to this picture. Our family. My husband, who was going to smile (but had never been on this ride before). He is in-between smiling and horrified. Behind him: me. Screaming because I HAVE ridden this before and know I just need to get through the horrid launch. Next to me: my oldest at age 9. Also a first time rider. Horrified. In the front right I present my youngest. He is 7 years old here. First time rider, and his look is of pure glee. His favorite ride is Tower of Terror, but let's just say he did NOT get his thrill ride genes from his parents!

I used to ride RnRC over and over again when I was between 9 and 12 years old.. and then I rode in the very front and must have inhaled during the launch.. I'm not exactly sure what happened but I felt like I was going to suffocate. It scared me so bad that I didn't ride it again until this past May (10 years later). I screamed the WHOLE time. I'm pretty sure anyone that could hear me probably thought I was crazy LOL.

I would rather ride EE 10 times in a row before riding RnRC. The backwards part on EE doesn't get to me as much as the launch on RnRC does. That being said I'll probably still ride RnRC again next year, but only because my fiancé will want to.

Omg I wish there was a  button for posts- great picture- thank you for sharing! (And describing!)

For first timers, do follow direction to keep your head on the head rest at launch. I once saw someone not paying attention get there head jolted into the headrest. Had a good laugh on that one, but I'm sure it hurt.

You're asking if it's intense and the answer is yes!! I'm a roller coaster chicken, can't ride most of them at the amusement parks. But let's face it most Disney rides are mild in terms of intensity. I've conquered them all except for ToT, no way! Anyway as soon as RnR took off I was praying for it to end. That take off was way too much for me. Without the take off I might have been fine but it was INTENSE! I'd advise not to let her ride it if she doesn't like drops, to me the take off felt like one huge drop!

I love Everest I have no problems with that but RnR never again!

In my opinion space mountain is more intense in regards to drops and throwing you around.

Just been on RNR today no big drops I can think off. I find it best to totally relax on the ride and not hold on at all, stops your head rattling and giving you a head ache. I did however loose a pair of sunglasses! So make sure your stuff is secure! Ha

The "intense" part of RNRC is the launch. You MUST have your head against the headrest. After that, it is sooooo smoooth and such a fun ride. EE has its "intense" part that it goes backwards. PW has its "intense" part the spinning. SM has its "intense" part the jarring ride. BTM really the theme makes it sound more intense than it actually is. Different people like and dislike different things about coasters, so which is more "intense" is very subjective. If I gave up one of the coasters as too intense, it would have to be Space Mountain. Maybe I will give it up at 70 or 80. Lol

Great advice! If we ride it I will definitely make sure we do that!

This is a great post- and a really good point about different rides having different intense elements, which is really why there are such varied opinions on this!

What is PW by the way?
Intense spinning.... Me no likey :crazy2:

Great, smooth coaster with no big drops. In my opinion, much less intense than EE and SM. And having Aerosmith blasting through the entire thing is a huge plus!

I totally disagree. I can ride EE and SM multiple times in a row. Once of RR and I'm done. I think RR is very bumpy the whole ride thru. EE is very smooth and SM is only bumpy in places.

That's the first time I've ever heard someone say that RnRC is bumpy! It's the smoothest coaster I've ever ridden. I must be going on the wrong rides!

This was a couple of years ago. When I got off of the ride, I felt like someone had grabbed me and shaken me. Maybe the ride was having a bad day? I don't know, but it was not smooth at all.

I guess it would depend on what you subjectively consider "bumpy". As I mentioned before, RnR has one quick drop that makes it feel like the floor fell out from under you for just a brief second. Also, IMO, some of the left or right turns it makes are quick transitions. But to me, that's not bumpy...it's still very smooth, just quick. To me, bumpy is Space Mountain or BTMRR. The only thing about RnR that isn't smooth to me is the final stop...both when the fast part is ending and then when you pull up to the exit dock. It jerks to a stop pretty suddenly. So does EE, to the point I've learned to brace myself when the ride is ending.

That is not how RnR feels to me. It feels bumpy the whole way through. Not smooth at all.
