How intense is California Screamin'?

If you can handle Rockin Roller Coaster, then you can handle California Screamin. I actually like Screamin a little better because I like that it is outside and that I can see where I am going. Enjoy:thumbsup2

not to mention screamin is a way longer ride then rockin roller coaster.

Just curious (it might not be any of my business), but if he loves roller coasters, why not just let him go by himself? There's a single rider line so he wouldn't be standing with strangers in line for very long. When I was 11 (now 15) I was riding the big roller coasters by myself cause my parents can't handle that much.

The launch on Rockin' is more intense than Screamin', I would say. Plus Rockin' has two inversions AND a loop, where Screamin' only has the one loop. If you can handle Rockin', you should be able to handle Screamin'.

The countdown has been there for a few years now. Used to not have one, but I guess a lot of people were getting whiplash and stuff because they didn't know the launch was coming. It also tells you to keep your shoulders back and face forward.

My 11 yo ds loves going on roller coasters but I'm still not comfortable letting him go by himself. I don't mind doing the milder coasters with him like Big Thunder and I actually really liked Rock n Roller Coaster at Disney Studios but I would never go on the types they have at Great America or Busch Gardens. Would I be able to tolerate Screamin'?

Screaming is faster than The Deomon at Great America. If you won't go on the loops at G A then you probably won't like CA Screaming. I like them both but to each his own.

Going to Great America tomorrow :dance3:

DD6 went on it last year and loved it!!!! She can't wait to go back on it again when we go the end of May. I was so nervous for her but she was fine. Love the takeoff!

If you like Rockin, then you'll be fine on Screamin, but I would say Screamin is a tiny bit more intense, I think because you're being catapolted up a good size hill, where as in Rockin you just go through a spiral that's not as long (tall). That intense take-off feel is the same though. As one poster already said, just when you feel like you can't take anymore its over and its smooth sailing from then on. I like Screamin better because its a longer ride and I do like the loop. Rockin is so quick/short and the loops aren't really that big because its inside a building so they are limited in how high they could go.

I am so bummed out. I really want to ride by my 5 year old is not tall enough yet. :(

I am only going with my DS and DD so no one to watch her.:sad1:

Obviously you need to move your trip to 6 days earlier, and I will watch her for you along with my 3 year old while my hubby goes on it. :) Or at least move it so you'll be there on the 29th, which is the day we'll be leaving at some point, and we could meet up. :)

I'm "thirding" the suggestion. :rolleyes1

I realize this sounds a bit irrational but I feel I need to make sure he is belted in properly or even more irrationally, feel like I could save him if I was sitting next to him  I'm also not keen on having him stand in line by himself. If he had a friend to ride with him, I would be okay with that.

Won't help with the belting issue (though it is harness/shoulder things like RNR coaster seems to have according to the Disney on a Dime show I watched last night), but did you see my Single Rider suggestion?

The waiting area for that is just a low, open fence away from where you could stand to watch him. He wouldn't be put in a line away from you.

The rider goes to the CM at the main line entrance, gets a pass. Goes back out towards the pier walkway, and in the accessible entrance gate. Stands in a VERY short line just *right there*. You could stand and see him be seated by the CMs.

Or you could just stand in the regular line with him, watch him be seated and locked in, then take the chicken exit.

Doesn't help with feeling that you could save him, either, but it does solve the waiting in line away from you issue.

Disneynut71, well, gosh! Hey, that last day of school isn't THAT important is it? :rotfl:

Are there any friends you could have tag along? And I'm assuming your son is not of babysitting age (meaning he's not old enough to babysit) so he can't wait with your 5 year old while you run off to play on the coaster? :goodvibes

It's funny 2007 was the first year I went to WDW without a second grown-up. I haven't been on Space Mountain in some time.

My DD just hit 44 inches last month and she can finally ride Space Mountain at WDW and Everest but we are not going this year...

I have tried to get my sister and brother to come along but they can't take the time off of work. I will just have to take another trip to Dl when she reaches the height requirement.
