how inexpensive can 1 person do a 5day trip/ ever gone alone?

1998!::yes:: The kids were 16 and 17 than, and didn't want to go anymore. So, I started going by myself, and yes DH gave me the "rocks in my head" look, and I just gave it right back to him when he wanted to buy a Cannon for 5,000.00! Now, I guess he feels guilty, and the kids are on thier own, so he drives me, drops me off, and goes to visit relatives in the area, or in Ga.:p I than take the bus or train back, in 4 hours and 30 min.;)

I can't believe it but I"m actually thinking of taking a solo trip to disney. I haven't been for 4 years. I've been and still am putting all the kids thru hs. Every time I try to plan a trip somebody has a sports event or an importang band thing, etc. Now I'm seeing value lodging going for 55. a night so I"m wondering...
How cheap do you think I could do this by myself for 5 nights, including 2 days at univ. I haven't seen most of their new stuff. I can eat super cheap, breakfast in room, snacks and drinks in a fanny pack, counter for most dinners. It seems super extravagant to spend tons of money on a solo trip so I'm trying to figure out just how cheap I could do it.
If you've gone by yourself what was it like? Did you go swim in the pools alone? Did it seem strange getting on a ride by yourself? Any thoughts?
If you can get a Disney resort for the $55..00 I would do that , I always feel so safe on the property since I am by myself , I by myself would not feel completely safe at the I4 hotels just for the sake of a free breakfast.........I'm not saying they are not safe, I am saying that I wouldn't feel safe, I like the Disney feel. You can eat fairly cheap. I think you could have a fairly good time on $1200.00 for 5 days. And please do post on the single board the dates when you are coming, there are many of us locals with passes that would meet up with you for a day. I do not feel uncomfortable at the pool by myself either, heck alot of women are there while their husbands golf or do other things. I do feel a little uncomfortable eating at the nicer restaurants by myself but even that is getting better.................I just came to the conclusion that if it means I won't do something alone then I will probably miss out on lifes pleasures. I refuse to stand by and watch life go by simply because I don't have someone to share it with.

I went by myself for the first time last year and really like it. This past June, I went with my family (mom, sister, neice, my daughter, son and his fiance) and really missed doing what I wanted to do. So I decided since I bought an AP, I'd go by myself this December.
I would recommend staying at a Disney resort, the conveniece is well worth the money.
Here are my calculations (being the obsessive planner I am )

Right now most of the value resorts are $49.00 a night, with tax this works out to about 54.63 a night times 5 nights 273.15. Assuming there will be codes etc for when you want to go. Alot of the airlines have airfare for $116.70 round trip. This seems to be the rate from now until mid december
If you use mears from the airport to Disney, that is about $30.00 round trip. Transportation to Universal would be about 12.00 round trip or $24 for 2 days. The cost of your disney tickets and universal tickets should be around 325.00 if you get a 4 day ticket for wdw and a 2 day ticket for universal from ticketmania.com. Your meals for the 6 days if you eat breakfast in your room and lunch and dinner at the counter services may run around $120.00.
so total 273.15 + 116.70 + 30.00 + 24.00 + 325.00 + 120.00 = 888.85. If your budget is $1000.00 then you can eat a few sit down meals or splurge on souvenirs

Nobody can say, I'm tire of being in Epcot. I can do IASW 3 times in a row if I want. I'm kind of warming to the idea. Universal might be a bit more difficult alone. I'm not a bg scary ride person. Is there any reason to do IOA if I"m not going to do any coasters?

IOA only has 3 coasters and one is a kiddy coaster. Universal has really only one.

Since it's the coasters you see whenever a picture is taken of the places, some people think it's all they have! :p
