It seems we have a resident mouse in our house and unfortunately it's not Mickey. We've seen him scurry across the floor a few times and heard him lots of times in the wall. One day we opened our dishwasher and he was IN THE LOCKED AND CLOSED DISHWASHER! Just made himself at home.

So my questions:

How in the H-E-double-hockey-sticks did he get in there??

Has anyone else had a mouse get into what should be an impossible space?

Guess the same way a former co-worker of mine had a snake get into her washing machine with the lid closed! :scared1:

My brother found a squirrel in his toilet. Not once, but TWICE!!! :scared1: The little buggers crawled in through some vent pipe.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwq!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I found a live mouse in my washing machine a couple of months ago! He's lucky I saw him and he didn't go through the wash, rinse, and spin cycle!

:scared1: I'd be moving after seeing him scurry across the floor a few times, nevermind finding him in the dishwasher. I am going to be scared to do dishes.

I found a lizard in our dishwasher when we first moved here.

I think I might hate lizards and snakes the MOST out of anything. Lizards seriously give me the heebie-geebies.

My mom's cat once brought in a rat....yes a rat. She didn't realize it was in the pile of dirty clothes.....she opened the washer to remove the clothes without looking.....after the wash, rinse and spin cycle it was dead. She called me just freaking out...all I could do was laugh.:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

We later bought a rubber rat at Halloween time and hide it through out her house occasionally....I still just laugh at her.

My understanding (which is probably entorely worng by the way;) ) is that mice and such creatures tend to like to travel aorund in a home's pipes and plumbing system. So, that would clearly give them access to both a dishwasher and a washing machine. And, no, I do not know how they get into the system in the first place.

Got this in email today:

IF YOU SEE SOMEONE TODAY WIHOUT A SMILE, GIVE THEM ONE OF YOURS.
This can’t really be real can it???
This is unreal !! And the tech's comment was too clever !! LOL

"Hello. Technical Support. How can I help you" ?

LADY: "Last night my computer started making a lot of hissing noise at me so I shut it down. This morning when I turned it on the computer started hissing and cracking, then started smoking and a bad smell, then nothing".

SUPPORT: "I will have a technician come over first thing this morning, just leave the computer just like it is, so they can find the problem and fix it, or change it out with another computer. Give me your address; phone number and the technician will be there just as soon as they can".

When t he technician got there, the lady showed the technician where the computer was, said what happened to it, this is what the technician found wrong. Take a look at the pictures... you won't believe your eyes!!!!!

The technician told her: It must have been after the mouse! The woman didn't think that was ver y funny at all.

I had that happen once many years ago. I had numerous people tell me that I was mistaken and that it wasn't possible for a mouse to get in the closed dishwasher. I've told them that I know a mouse when I see one, and I know what closed means too.

I never got an explanation for how it can happen. People just kept telling me it couldn't. (So, I'm actually a little bit glad that you found one too. Now it's not just me! :thumbsup2 )

I know I've heard that mice can squeeze into very tiny spaces, as they have tiny flexible skeletal systems. So, even tiny holes can let them through. Ick. I hate mice. Over this winter we had a chipmunk in our basement. We didn't know it, but he must have got in a small window break, and then when DH fixed the window, he was trapped. I saw droppings a few times but thought it was a mouse (not good either!) He must have survived by eating dog food we kept down there (another no-no!) but must have died of thirst 'cause my DH found him one morning. Ick.

As for those tropical lizards...when we were in WDW in October, we had a rental car...one morning we loaded into the car to go to one of the parks, and what climbs out of the heating vent in front of me but a freakin' lizard! This New Englander jumped so high and screamed so loud! I had my kids crying I was so freaked out! If any of you were at OKW and saw someone jumping around a rented Ford screaming and trying to nick a lizard out my car window without touching it, that was me!!! :faint: :scared:

I found out that a mouse can squeeze through a hole no wider than a pencil. That means they can show up just about anywhere! I'm sure yours came in through the pipes.

This is the worst thread ever.:sad2: I'm going to be paranoid of my appliances, computer and toilet. That's like 60% of my life.

P.S. I think mice are cute!:thumbsup2 Rats are hideous!:scared:

:scared1: OMG, if that happened to me I'd use that as an excuse to tell my family I'm never washing clothes again!! All laundry must be sent out. LOL

Growing up, I found a mouse in our toaster oven. I didn't know it was in there until I had turned it on. Poor thing was being cooked alive!!

With our first house, we had a built in wall oven. One day I opened the cabinet underneath it and found a dead black bird. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I suppose it got down via the oven vent, but it was pretty big. It also pooped all over everything before it croaked. I have no idea how we didn't hear the racket it must have made.

That picture of the computer reminds me...I keep the cover off the side of my computer because the fan that cools it died. One morning I found a mouse in the computer so I turned it sideways to trap him, unplugged it and took it outside. Then I sat it down and banged on the case til he darted out. Did I mention mice don't scare me? I just don't wanna live with them!

Also, regarding the dishwasher, I actually poured a cup of water in the bottom of it to see if it would drain out/if there were openings and it sat in there all night. But the next morning (YUCK) there was mouse poop in there again! Yuck yuck yuck. So that really really makes me wonder again HOW DID IT GET IN THERE? LOL

My dishwasher drains back through the kitchen sink pipes somehow. When the water is pumping out, it swishes around in the garbage disposal. So to me that sounds like a direct link from your kitchen sink drain to the output drain in the dishwasher.

I rarely use mine but the water from the sink backs up into it and I have to run the pump cycle to get rid of it.

My daughter had 2 rats as pets. They were cute and she even trained one to do a few tricks. But for me, they were still rats. :scared1:

Now my sister had a chinchilla that got loose one night. She was heading to the bathroom for her nightly visit, she happened to turn the light on and what popped out of the toilet? The chinchilla. Yikes!!
