How important are PS dining arrangements?

We are WDW vets making our first DL trip in October.
At WDW, we usually make PS arrangements for a few days and do walk-up the rest of the time. Is this feasible at DL? I haven't a clue where to eat yet as I'm way behind in my trip planning.

Yes, DL does offer priority seating. You can book from up to 60 days from the date you call in <Disney Dining: (714)781-3463 >. I suggest making reservations ahead of time. I've noticed that most of the restaurants are so booked that they can't accept walk-ins (especially with Blue Bayou just re-opening from their refurb.). Hope this helps :goodvibes

We typically dont make a lot of PS for our trips. We just do walk up. If you want a character meal, I would make a PS or if you know you want sit down meals. Our last trip- 3 days, we had one ps. It was for Minnies at the Plaza. The trip before that was 5 days and we had 2. One for Goofy's and one for Blue Bayou. We ended up skipping BB. We just didnt want to take the time right then to go eat.

You probably want reservations when the parks are busy, such as on the weekend or a holiday.

Also, if you are willing to eat meals early or late (ie. dinner 4:30 - 5pm or after 8pm, I think it is) then a PS is probably less important. (I haven't been yet, I'm basing this on what I've read from others.) :)

I always make my PS 2-3 weeks in advance ... never been denied PS ... even during the summer ... :)

I have only made PS for Blue Bayou and character meals. Those are the only table service meals we do. I love a couple of the counter service places. Bengal BBQ and the bread bowls at Royal Street Veranda are yummy.

It really depends on where and what time you eat, PS is always a good idea to be assured a spot. Character meals, Napa Rose, Granville’s, Blue Bayou (epically for the Pirates View Seats), The Vineyard Room, Ariel’s Grotto, and several places in DTD you should consider getting reservations. Esp. in the parks as they can get crowded fast.

Today I made two ADRs for our September trip, and had plenty of times to choose from.
I chose Blue Bayou and Granville's. I figure I can cancel these res' if something different comes up. But at least I have them.
Blue Bayou we ate at 5 years ago, and I understand the menu is different. (Not surprising. I would expect it to change in 5 years time.)
Last time we did the Fantasmic Dessert Buffet. Not sure I want to do that again or not. :confused3
