How important are future resorts to you?

I wouldn’t complain about that particular error! See what else you can do while you’re at it… 11 month priory at VGC with your SSR points?? 😂
Haha that would be great.

Couldn’t I risk that they cancel the reservation because it’s made with ineligible points?

Potentially yes - I think I would be slightly worried about cancellation but if the system allowed it then a) it’s unlikely to pick up the error after the fact and b) if they query it you can just plead ignorance and ask them to swap out any ineligible points with direct ones?

That’s true.

I would assume that their trust in the system is big enough for them not to check all reservations for any inconsistencies.

Yes I have managed to make two bookings now.

I also managed to purchase the MMB as an international member.

Could be that there are some sort of error with my account since I can do both. 🤷‍♂️

Your Beach Club points are from after January 2019, correct?

It’s possible that they were coded incorrectly when they were added to your account. I suspect at least part of that process is manual.

I’ve had that happen (in my favor) in a different timeshare system.

I am currently in the market for my second DVC contract. I am 30 years old, and the more I look into it, the more direct points are attractive to me due to future resorts being built that will likely be unavailable to book with resale points (I’m looking at you, rumored Adventureland gate resort).

Conversely, of course the resale market looks more attractive financially. How do you navigate your DVC decisions and how important is access future resorts for you?
I'm in my late 60's (Yikes! When did that happen?). Depends on what you value most.
My first contract was a small resale. I've had 3 resale and 3 direct, all small because I can't wait to save up the money for one larger contract. There were no restrictions at the time, so my resale points were as good as direct. Financially, a timeshare of any sort doesn't make sense for me, but I wanted to stay at Boardwalk. My decisions are based on where I can pick up small contracts, because I like to pay cash. (also the age factor, I don't think I'll be DVCing when I'm 100+ years old)
In your 30's, I can see the draw of direct unrestricted points and if you're financially able go for it. Who knows what the next restriction will be on resale. The way they keep increasing prices, when you're 50, your direct purchase will seem like a great bargain.
As for an Adventureland Gate resort, the O14 have walking distance to a theme park (Epcot and MK) from several resorts, and skyliner access to more. I know it's not direct park access but still pretty good....and you could always buy enough points just to stay there later if it does materialize. Addonitis is real.

So basically, after all this rambling on, I bought where I wanted to stay and could afford to pay without increasing my debt load. I'm not disparaging people who finance, but we all have psychological barriers. Mine is owing money.
