How I would enhance FP+

So I was thinking....what if I could make FP+ the best it could be for my family. I know all the general wish lists start out with more FP+ and hopping options, but lets think bigger. Tell me what would make you love FP+ or the MyMagic system in general.

If those Disney Execs really are listening to us. Lets tell them what would make us happy!:)

Here's my dreams for 2014.

1. Lose the tiering, or at least let me hop to another park and use FP+ there after I go on Soarin.

2. Add alerts to the MDE App. Let me know when my FP+ window is approaching and when my Adrs are coming up.

3. When legacy is put back in the vault, add the bonus FP+ system. The original three FP+ is fine to start out. Once I've used my ticket to get into a park and my 3 FP+ are used, let me select additional FP+ from the available pool. I think if they have a one at a time use, it would keep things under control. Ex. I use my 3 FP+, now I enter my app and pick my next attraction, such as SM. I accept the next available time slot. After I have completed FP+, time elapsed, or I cancel, I can then repeat process with whatever is available.

4. This is a combo of #2 and #3. I will call it the CM surprise. Since the MDE app has a locater as well as the MBs, it is possible for the system to know who is near a certain area. A attraction CM sees that the FP line at an attraction is low and the standby line is WNL. They hit a button to alert the system of availability, and an alert goes out to the guests within a certain area this attraction has available surprise FP+ for this hour only. You follow the app prompts to book your popup FP+.:cool1:

For those without Smart phones, these thing probably wouldn't be great for you. I can't wait to hear others great idea!

I would like to be able to gift a fast pass to someone. Done this many times in the past when we couldn't use them.

Good ideas. I'm really hoping that FP+ will be even better in the long run than FP-. It certainly has the potential to offer more. Since, like you said, the MDE app has a locator, the system can track where everyone is and direct people to rides with lower wait times.

Apparently one of the much needed improvements is coming, a more reliable app. Other than that, all I really want is one of 4 things to change:

(1) Limit of 3 in MK
(2) Limit of 1 park per day
(3) Tiering
(4) Guaranteed ability to make changes day of or pick up extra same day FP+

If any of those 4 are fixed, it makes a huge difference on our family's enjoyment of FP+. Individually those aspects of FP+ are crappy but they are manageable. Combined, they make the system very unappealing for my family. If I could choose, I would love to the 1 park per day rule lifted. Even if we could still only book 3, 1 in the morning park and 2 in the evening park would be nice.

If I am going to have to wear a band, I wish they would put a cheapie clock in it (AKA a watch) :)

Why not just wear the MB on your opposite wrist from your watch? Or wear it on a lanyard around your neck?

Obviously I would like more FP. 3 is just not enough. How about 2 reserved in advance FP, and 2 that you can reserve 'day of' in the parks at kiosks, based on availability? Then I could reserve 2 'must do' rides and grab the 'day of' FP in park for what rides look good when I'm there.

What I'd really love is a system like Universal where onsite guests get unlimited FP. Unfortunately, I don't think that's actually feasible at WDW.

What would really solve all of these problems would be for Disney to build another 2-3 E-Ticket rides at each park. This would spread out crowds and keep everyone from backing up a few rides. Imagine Epcot if they had 2 other E-ticket rides besides Test Track and Soarin', or DHS with 2 other E-ticket rides besides RnR and TSMM! I can see the crowds spreading out right now, and then each individual ride wouldn't be so packed. This would eliminate the need for tiering.

This. And they could have built those 2-3 (maybe even 4) E tickets with about half of what they invested in MM+.

Because I hate wearing jewelry etc but if I have to wear a band on my wrist, I would like it to have a clock in it. I can't tell you how many times I found myself looking down at it for the time.

I think it would work for our family if we could:

1. Make a total of 3 FP+ reservations in advance (at 1 park or a combination of parks)

2. If I could make the 3 advance FP+ reservations across multiple parks, I think I could live with tiering within each park.

3. And then, as soon as we use 1 FP+ on the day-of, we can choose another FP+ out of available time slots - including tier 1 rides if they are available. That way we always have 3 FP+ reservations at our disposal.

I don't want to have to wait until I have used all 3 of my pre-reserved FP+ to reserve a 4th. Then I would never want to pre-reserve a FP+ for the end of the night.

Fun to think about :goodvibes

Love the ideas. I was just thinking about what pp just said. If you were told once you used FP+ you could get more on an availability/one at a time use, would that encourage you to use early time slots for FP+? Then the bonus system could work similar to FP- system only booked on your phone instead of pulling a ticket. This would open up a lot of evening time slot for availability on the fly.

We were there on thanksgiving, and I was surprised at the amount of available FP (legacy and FP+), I know offsite guest weren't in on FP + yet, but all could use legacy and double dip too. My family would like that plan, would you guys like that?

What would you think of extra FPs during low crowd periods? It could be like their free dining promotions. For example, if you travel in Jan or Feb, you get 6 per day...Not that they'd really be necessary, but it sounds good ;)

But I could be onboard with all of this if:

1) number of fastpasses are adjusted to the amount of attractions in the park (6 for MK, 4 for the others). More Fps in general.

2) if they're going to tier, give me 2 headliners for EP, HS, AK. I'd like to be able to do both TSMM and RnRC, then 2 other minor attractions if they insist on giving out FPs for GMR and VOLM. 3 headliners for MK.

3) allow multiple rides on the same attraction - If I can do 2 headliners, then let me choose to do the same headliner twice instead of once each. (3 for MK).

4) allow for PH. As soon as you start booking FPs for a different park, the ratio goes down; If you book all 6 for MK, then none left for HS. You have to drop 2 from MK to get 1 for HS.

5) I'm ok with giving more FPs for mod and Dlx resorts, DVC, AP holders. But I know not everybody is.

6) bring back legacy FP :)

Not to be a downer, but I'm wondering if most of these suggestions are either thinking too big or might come with unexpected consequences. For example, Disney allowing park hopping could mean tiering the other 2 parks. I'm thinking we need to think about small changes that could make a big difference.

For example, after 2:00 you can change one of your FP+ into any other FP+ without regards to Tiering, previously used FP+'s, or park. This would give people picking FP+ the same day the first 5 hours of a normal day (assuming 9:00a.m. opening) to pick their headliner before people can pick a second headliner. You could get a second headliner including a reride of a favority if FP availability allowed, or you could park hop with one of your FP+'s. It also makes the "less than ideal" tier 1 FP's a viable option for the second one.

2. If I could make the 3 advance FP+ reservations across multiple parks, I think I could live with tiering within each park.

that would result in people picking tier 1 rides at each park, which nulls the purpose of tiering in the first place.

i just want an alert on the app for upcoming fp+/ADRs. that the app does not have a feature that is such a basic function in apps in general is astounding.

...What would really solve all of these problems would be for Disney to build another 2-3 E-Ticket rides at each park.

This, of course, will eventually be offset by the 2-3 additional hotels that Disney will build to accommodate the dangerously low levels of tourists at the parks. ;)
