How I Survived 11 Days at WDW with a Disney-Resistant Husband **2/20 THE END **

Katie's outfit is beautiful! I love that her AG doll matches her! The picture of Chris holding the doll is too funny.
We're eating at Narcossee's in August and absolutely can't wait! All of your food looks delicious-- especially those PEI mussels and the surf and turf. Yum!
I'm so glad your second to last night was so magical! The idea of swimming and playing and being able to watch/hear The Princess and the Frog (one of our favorites!) just sounds so wonderful!

What a special meal at Narcoosee's. I agree that it was a perfect ending to a perfect day... with a lot of pool time! :) My dd has a dress similar to Katiem but I have never seen a matching doll dress. Where ever did you find it?

Back to a previous comment- Your upgraded lens is amazing! I have an older rebel and have been looking into getting a new lens. After seeing your shots - I think it's time!

lovely update, sounded like a perfect WDW evening! :goodvibes

Thank you for all the wonderful photos of the Grand Floridian.. it's got me (even more) excited to stay there on our honeymoon! :cloud9:

Emma princess: x

Trish...that brought tears to my eyes...if ever there was a perfect evening, you guys had it! The pictures are amazing....you all look so wonderful and relaxed!! Sometimes the best thing is to just be at the pool isn't it....we get caught up in the parks and forget just being together is that best part of any vacation.

awh!!! Sounds wonderful!! I could actually feel some of the Disney Magic :wizard: There really is no place quite like it.
On our next trip I am bring ing my nephew...hw has gone to Disney but hasn't stayed in Disney. There is no comparison......IT IS SUCH A MAGICAL PLACE :cheer2:

Love reading about your last night!

My DH and I ate at Narcoosees and also enjoyed the surf and turf and the mussels. I won't tell you what my DH had, because it was a little scary. The kids look they had a lovely evening as well. Wonderful pictures of the whole family!

It sounds like your after dinner swimming was also perfect! What a great memory to have of the last day of your trip!

Wow that sounds like the perfect evening to ever have at WDW, dinner looked fantastic and what a bonus that you were able to enjoy both the princess and the frog and illuminations from the pool.

Can't wait to hear about your final day:goodvibes

I'm all caught up on the rest of your trip! The way you described that night in the pool gave me goosebumps...sounds heavenly! :cloud9:

Hello, I just decided to read your TR starting yesterday. Her it's about 24 hours later and I am not all caught up.
I have a DH like yours. He loves it when it's something he was enjoying, like eating or relaxing. He hates it when it's hot/raining, long lines and crowds. There have been many times I say I want to do a trip without him so I can truly enjoy the trip. Then I think how I may miss him and want him to enjoy it as much as I do.
The kids are so cute. Loved all the outfits. Narcoosee's dinner looked divine. I must go there some time. MMM The surf and turf would have had me drooling.
Thanks for the links so it made reading the TR much easier. :thumbsup2

Your dinner at Narcoossee's looked absolutely fabulous! That may go on my list for next trip...

I love how Katie's doll had a matching dress! So cute!

Your last night in the pool sounds positively perfect! :cloud9: How wonderful!!!:goodvibes

Chris and I actually saw the show back in 1998, but I haven't been back since. I don't really remember how hot it was to be honest. Oh well... we will just have to hope for the best, as I really think Declan will like the show. He is a hot wheels and car fanatic, so this wld be right up his alley!

I'm sure he will LOVE it! It's worth the heat when you know someone is going to really enjoy it! We planned to watch it even in the heat this past trip, but Henry fell asleep.

So you mention "next trip" - when is it??? :hyper:

and started walking back through the resort. It was at this point that I actually heard my husband discussing a future return trip. I believe his exact words were something along the lines of "Yeah, I'd stay here".:rotfl:

:yay: You know what you have to do! Book the GF! :lmao:

What a perfect night! It sounds just magical. A wonderful, memorable Disney moment. :cloud9: And you have my stomach growling for Narcoose's!

What a wonderful, magical evening!! :cloud9::love::cloud9: SO happy that you had it after all the ups and downs on the trip!

Looking forward to hearing about the Poly....:cloud9:

Sara

What a wonderful dinner -- and a wonderful night!

Katie looks so adorable in her fluffy skirt, with her doll in a fluffy skirt!

My mom and I stayed at the GF last year, and we thought that even my dad -- the biggest WDW-hater ever (after four daughters and many many years of WDW trips, all in the days before FPs) -- would love the GF!

What a perfect end to your day! I also figured out that sometimes you have to let kids choose. Even if it means going against your plans. I did that on our last family trip and we had a really great time! :) It's their vacation too, right? I'm glad you all went swimming and had so much fun family time. Great update!

We ate at Narcoossee's on Christmas Eve on our last trip. It was a very good meal and I loved the view from the restaurant. Sounds like your evening was awesome.

What a great place to enjoy Christmas Eve! Sounds like we both had great experiences there!:goodvibes

Oh Trish! What a great update and magical night all around, it sounds like just a perfect moment in time, all of it. The kind that gets you through. :goodvibes

Love the pictures.

WTG Katie and Declan and WTG Trish and Chris for listening to them.

Thanks Cynthia!:goodvibes It was definitely a trip highlight!:)

It is such a plus to read about what a great day you had! Despite the Disney resistant husband, I'm glad that you had some fabulous memories to counter the bad.

And those pictures of your kids? Priceless! Love the black and white versions! :thumbsup2

Thanks! :goodvibes Yes, this was a great night.

:cloud9: What a perfect night!!! It all sounds positively perfect. I have never eaten at Narcoossee's but it's definitely on my someday list. And I would love the opportunity to talk with an opening day CM... how cool is that?!?

All the food looks fabulous!!

How exciting Chris mentioned the idea of a return visit! That is a very good sign!

Sounds like the kids had a great idea. I will have to keep those special views from SAB in mind for future trips!

As if we all need another reason to love SAB, right? :rotfl: It was pretty magical, I admit.

And yes, Christine, you really do have to get over there to Narcoossee's someday soon!;)

What an amazing end to a great day!!!!

Amanda

Thanks Amanda!:goodvibes

Wow, after reading that last update, I am now wondering if I should have booked Narcosee's. The food looks amazing! I was so worried about bringing our little 3yo DD to a nice 2TS restuarant, that I was afraid to book it. We decided on Flying Fish because that menu looks amazing as well. I may have decided differently if I had read an update like yours before.

love the description of the end to your day. Sometimes the happiest times on vacations are the unplanned ones. :goodvibes

Narcoossee's really was great. But it still doesn't touch California Grill or Jiko in my view.;) I haven't tried Flying Fish yet, but really want to. I still haven't finished your TR, so I definitely look forward to reading all about your experience there.

As for taking your daughter....check out the photo of Chris and Declan. There are 2 other tables in the background and what do you see at each of them - kids!!!;) Our dinner ADRS were usually btwn 5:30-6pm and we never had problems with the kids, nor were we ever alone in bringing them to the fancier signature restaurants. Personally I probably wouldn't bring young kids (age 5 and under) to such places after 7:30-8pm as most kids that age aren't their best at that time, plus I think most adult diners probably expect (or at least are hoping) for a more child-free experience. But anything before 7:30pm is fair game as far as I am concerned. It is Walt Disney World afterall!

Oh the Grand Floridian looks lovely, of course! I hope to stay there one day in the not too distant future! And I know just how you felt in Stormalong Bay. That pool is the best! Beach Club is really the best resort in the summer!

I definitely won't argue with you there! SAB and the Y&BC are awesome.

What a perfect night at Disney!
SAB is awesome. It's so hard to pull yourself away and go to the parks.

You are so, so right!!! ;)

Okay, I am here albeit 111 pages behind. LOL! I look forward to catching up! :goodvibes

Hi Jackie! Welcome! So glad to have you here! :welcome:

Hopefully you will get caught up quickly enough by using the links.;)

How awesome that you got to meet an opening day CM! I think I would have wanted to invite him to dine with us just to hear all of his stories!

Katie looks beautiful in her dress :goodvibes

You know, sometimes you just need a day to chill and relax. I think your last day at BC was perfect! I've decided that next time we go to WDW I want it to be for a minimum of 10 nights, that way we can have some down time and still have enough park time that we don't feel like we miss out on our favorites :thumbsup2

Hey Michelle! It was a complete and total surprise to meet an opening day CM. And such an honor. He completely knew how awestruck I was...I was hanging onto his every word.:rotfl:

You are right about the longer trips...they do allow you to take more downtime. However, the flipside (as I discovered this trip), is that it sometimes lulls you into a false sense that you have loads and loads of time and before you know it, the trip is at an end.

In an ideal word (with unlimitless time and money), I would like to vacation at WDW for an entire month. Wouldn't that be awesome?!!! And I bet there would still be things you wouldn't cross off your list.;)

What a fabulous update! I loved this one. First off, we are eating at Narcoossee's for our upcoming trip too. Thanks again for the great review! Honestly, we must have the same ADR taste because you ate at nearly all the places we are planning to eat in 2 weeks!:goodvibes And we're staying at the GF too!:goodvibes It's seriously my favorite resort, not at all stuffy and snobby like people think.

I am so happy that your last day at the BC was so darn magical! And it was because you were swimming in the pool yet again! I laughed at that because that would be like heaven for my kids! How special though that the Princess and the Frog was playing (we loved that movie) and then Illuminations. Sometimes it isn't all about running around the parks, right? What a darling memory Katie and Declan gave you!:goodvibes

This picture is adorable:goodvibes, I love her sweet outfit and that she has her American Girl with her! DD7 is debating which one she wants to bring to Disney.:goodvibes You captured some really great pics of your kids at the GF!

Sounds like you have a pretty special trip lined up! I don't think you can go wrong dining at the signature dining places we covered. Every night it was another great meal and experience. To be completely honest, I look forward to the meals more than anything else on the trip!:rotfl:

By the end of that last day at the Beach Club I am sure we all looked like prunes with all of the swimming we did that day. But it really was the best way we could have spent our final day there. Everyone was happy.:goodvibes

You have given me another idea for dinner ADRs. I added two more days to my trip just so I could try more places to eat. Shh, I really wanted a couple of days to recover from the GDs.;)

:rotfl: A couple of adult-only days at the end of your trip certainly won't hurt you...especially if you spend them eating in some fantastic restaurants!;)

Thanks!:goodvibes Yes...it really was a magical night. It is so true that the unplanned moments, and what tend to be the simplest moments at that, are sometimes what ends up making the trip.:)

Are you really, really sure that you want more info on the pettiskirts? Because they are really, really addicting......OK...you asked for it. Don't say I didn't warn you!;)
http://www.oopsydaisybaby.com/

As for my new lens, what I like about it is that it has a great zoom. Besides my kit lens, the only other lens I bought at first was a 55mm lens. Great lens (and only about $100), but it was difficult to use with subjects on the move (like my kids!) so it wasn't the best option for me. As a result, I ended up still using the kit lens most of the time because I missed the zoom so much.

I love the versatility of my new lens because it has zoom. Many people call it the "lazy man's" lens because you do give up something in sharpness and quality with the zoom. But for my "mom photography" purposes, I am completely fine with that. The zoom has saved me thousands of times by allowing me to get shots I would not have been able to take with a fixed lens.

But unfortunately, the photos in this TR don't really show what this lens can do. I didn't discover until after I arrived back home that the focus setting was off on my camera for most of the trip. Chris mentioned it to me when he took the handful of photos that he did during the trip and I completely dismissed it. Well, what do you know...he was absolutely right. That is why a large chunk of my photos are not clear and crisp.

lovely update, sounded like a perfect WDW evening! :goodvibes

Thank you for all the wonderful photos of the Grand Floridian.. it's got me (even more) excited to stay there on our honeymoon! :cloud9:

Emma princess: x

Wow Emma!!! I have to get all caught up again on things with you...I didn't know you had a trip to the GF planned. And a honeymoon trip at that! :yay: Yay! And congrats! I can't imagine a nicer place to be to savour, rehash and enjoy all of those wonderful wedding memories and start your new life together.
