My name is Kevin. I'm 43 years old. I started a lifestyle change over a year ago. To date 60 lbs lost -----35 to go
It was easy to do and involved no drastic changes.

I started with a list of reasons why I wanted to lose weight. Wrote them down on a piece of paper, memorized them, and then threw the paper away.

It takes 21 days to get rid of bad habits, and 21 days to start a new habits.

First start breaking the bad habits.

I used to stop before work every morning at Wa Wa to pick up junk food for work.
Than I would eat 4 different times a day at work.
I would drink sodas and juices all throughout the day.

So I started out my days by no longer stopping at Wa Wa.
I began packing my lunch. It took me 21 days to break that habit.
All the while reminding myself of the reasons that I put on the list why I need to do this.

I started drinking my coffee (black) no cream or sugar, unsweet brewed iced tea, and lots of water. It took 21 days to start the new habit.

How to lose weight without it costing you anything.....

Your Digestive system starts to work when you eat a meal, so it is very important that you sit down and enjoy that meal, take that time for yourself.
Don't rush. Enjoy the food you a eating.
Once you are done eating that meal , do not eat anything for 4 to 5 hours -
Not even a snack.

Your Body starts to digest that meal and if you start picking at something between those 4 to 5 hours, than your body stops digesting that meal and store it in the fat cells.

This is a very important ! Make sure that you space your meals.
For breakfast you should eat cereal, eggs, and fruit, in small portions.
I eat a bowl of cereal everyday with an apple. On the weekends I have eggs.
Fruit with the skin on is good for your digestive system, eg.(apples) (grapes)
Next 4 to 5 hours between meals drink water. I drink it hot like coffee. The hot water also helps with your digestive system and keeps the hunger down.
For lunch eat salads or tuna fish sandwich. Lettuce tomatoes and onions are good for the digestive system.

Never eat until you are full and never skip a meal. It's okay to let your stomach growl. Thats your body telling you its done with the digestion.
Eat whatever meals you have with your family for dinner, but eat smaller portions. Eat more vegetables. Never eat leftovers -they have no nutritional value.

One day a week is a day for soup only. ( tomato- plain soups).
Take a walk for 20 minutes a day and start lifting light weights daily.

Congrats to you on such an improved lifestyle!!!
I started Jenny Craig in January and have lost 25 pounds so far....(was 28, but have started gaining again).

It's funny that you bring up the 21 day habit breaking method. My boss just ordered some (purple) braclets for a "Complain Free World" and it talks about the 21 days to break a habit. She is passing them out in the office today, and I have decided to take your lead and use it as a "lifestyle change" . I have already told myself that from now on, I'll have salad for lunch....and now I agree, cereal and fruit, no snacks and MUCH MUCH more water!!

Thanks for joining/visiting us over here on the WISH....I needed this today!!! :goodvibes

Thanks for stopping in, And while your Lifestyle plan has worked for you, it won't work for everyone. Nutritionst agree that eating small meals thruout the day is more effective than eating every 4-5 hours. Keeping the glucose/blood sugar levels even keep your body working at it's optimum level.

I had to laugh, at one comment in particular. The comment that "Leftovers have no nutritional value." They have as much as they did going into the fridge, though re-heating may cause them to lose some, it does not negate their benefits totally. However, that being said, I -NEVER- eat leftovers, I just don't like them. *chuckles*

Enjoy your stay at the dis WISH journals. I wish you success in your weightloss journey.
