So. Yesterday was the season premier of Supernatural, which is an epically awesome TV show. Well, in the season finale, certain events occured... *SPOILERS* Sam Winchester accidentally let Lucifer loose from hell. Well, the end of the episode/season was a shot of Sam and Dean holding onto each other as a light emanated from the gate to hell and then BAM! Cut to black, end of episode. *END SPOILERS*... which led to a ton of Supernatural fans on Twitter to repeatedly use the Hashtag #luciferiscoming. At one point during the day, the top five trending topics were related to Supernatural (#luciferiscoming, #supernatural, #inkripkewetrust, etc; ) and the number one trending topic was #luciferiscoming.
Apparently P.Diddy didn't get that it was a reference to a television show and called upon "God's Army" to fight the "Satanists" who were spewing their garbage all over Twitter. Eventually, this led to a religious based war where one side was in the dark about the origins of the hashtag. This, in turn, led to the censorship of the tags "#luciferiscoming" and "#godishere".
So there you have it, I was part of something big yesterday and this makes me feel happy. What have you done lately? I helped start an internet war.
A good article on the story is here. I also feel the need to point out that we were mentioned on Fox News Radio...
