Piggybacking on the August heat thread, we are going to the World the last week of September. I would hope that the last week of Sept the summer heat things might cool down 5 degrees or so?? (wishful thinking). Does it still rain every day as well?
Up here in NJ, September can still be hot, but heading into october the change into Fall and 70s-80s occurs right around this time.

Thanks

Hi,

Well, it's not as relentless as August, but it's still hot at the end of September. Average highs are still near 90, and morning lows are usually in the low 70s. It still does rain a lot but it's not as much of a sure thing as it is during the dog days.

Have fun!
Bob

I'm from NJ too- and I will be interested in what people say about the weather end of Sept. Are you flying down or driving? I think we are slightly insane, because we are driving down!

I have been to Disney during the end of Sept. middle of Oct. and it can be hot. Being from up north too (PA) it is hot compare to are degree of temp.
82 down there is like 90 up here. The humidity is really bad.
But the nights are really nice.

I am flying down ... I would love to drive and take my time but we want to use all of our available time actually in WDW (9days).

I could live with high80s daytime high and 70s nighttime low ... that sounds perfect to me !!

We've been down the last week of September twice. Yes, it is hot but not miserable. We are usually swimming or resting somewhere air conditioned the hottest part of the day but I don't ever remember being bothered by the heat. Eighties, low nineties. Yes, expect rain every day. But it may just be a short shower, won't necessarily rain all day.

Oh yeah, well the last time we were there a hurricane hit. But you roll with it! :cool1:

You never know. I was there in 2001 in late September, and the first 3 days the highs were in the upper 70's and very low humidity. It returned to normal at the end of our vacation, but highs were still no higher than the mid-80's, and maybe 65% humidity. Pretty comfortable week then. But I would certainly bring summer clothes, with maybe a light jacket or two just in case nights are cool.

Went last year Sept 20-28. It was hot -mid to upper 80's except for the day the hurricane hit! We just stayed at the hotel and swam one day.

Sorry, it's still rainy season here in Florida in September and will still rain quite a bit. It's October when it starts to really end. It's still very hot and humid in Sept. August and Sept are really the hottest months down here and mid October is when you'll see the heat let up.

Carolyn,

Thanks for the input. You'll notice I did say "it still does rain a lot!" I'm going by weather records which indicate that--on average--more rain falls in Orlando in June, July, and August than September.

We're going the last week of Sept too! We're driving too. DH just hates to fly and there's nothing I can do to convince him otherwise.

So we'll drive and see how that goes. We'll be driving from VA.

My husband hates flying too! He also rationalizes that we will save $- which is true I suppose!
The farthest I've ever driven is to the Outer Banks which because of traffic took us 12 hours. It was hard, but doable. So I'm hoping that the 16 or so hours will be ok :scared1:
But the good thing is we'll be able to load everything we need in the minivan which will be nice!

We were there last Sept and liked it so much we are going again this Sept ....
The weather is humid and hot, but not like july or august. September is a very unstable month, so you don't know exactly what to expect. It is also rainy / hurricane season. Last year we were there when a hurricane hit and it was one of our best trips to WDW....on the plus side of going end of Sept: The parks are not crowded, it's not as steamy and it's "value" season. Also I don't know if it was the incoming hurricane, but the pictures we took were spectacular because of the sky and natural lighting...they look like postcards.

So not to worry, if it rains in the afternoon, it just cools everything down. Last year during the hurricane, people were checking out in droves...we added 2 days! We changed our flights, no charge due to the weather and got a free day added to our parks tix. The weather was beautiful and the parks back to normal the next day. Just some FYI in case it happens to anyone while down there. Don't check out and go home, stay and have fun, Disney throws a great "hurricane party"!

Having grown up in central Fla. and having just stayed a week at the Poly, I can tell you that September is still Summer. The rains will diminish only when there are not tropical depressions lurking of the coast, althoughshowers otherwise are brief.
THe nights will be a little more tolerable. Still do not fret, there are so many ways to keep cool there, and most lines for attractions are kept somewhat cool and many are indoors. Also if staying at an onsite resort head back to your room around lunch, then eat, swim, relax and head back out for the evening. :goodvibes ::MickeyMo

Definitely tank top and shorts weather. We swam every day, went to waterparks, etc. Even at night I wore strapless tops and was very warm.

The humidity and heat doesn't bother me that much. We live in Memphis, and I thought Florida was much more tolerable than the hot sticky city we just left.

Coming home was a shock, though. A cold front came through TN the day we flew home last year, and we went from 90 degree weather to 65 degree weather in a matter of hours. It was unreal!

We go to disney in late Sept. every year..You'll love it..less crowded...etc. I agree w/Grimley1968 the weather is unpredictable..it can be rainy it can be cloudy it can be windy it's mother nature..the weather reminds me of nj weather in Aug....If it's hot though you won't feel it as bad because the park is not that crowded w/ other bodies...ENJOY YOUR TRIP!!!!
