This is one of the reasons why I never go into a body of water unless it's a pool. Gators are everywhere here, any type of lake, river, pond, etc. there will be a gator.

Deputies on Thursday trapped and killed seven alligators, all between 8 and 11 feet long, said Lake County Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Nick Pallitto.

Brian's friend Justin VanGorder, 14, said the gators were around "all day" as they swam near a marina, about 30 miles northwest of Orlando.

"Every time we saw them, we would get out of the water," but Brian stayed in, Justin told the Orlando Sentinel.

Dont you think it's common sense to NOT swim in the water if you see alligators around??? If you see one get out of the water that doesnt mean there arent more UNDER the water.

What a load of senseless deaths that ALL could have been avoided.

And be careful in pools,

My cousin in palm beach jumped into her pool, only to find an alligator in it. Since then she's had it screened in. She lives off a canal, so she and her neighbors frequently had alligators in their pools.

Believe me, I always check first.

We hear Gators in our backyard across the pond. I love to waterskie, but refust to b/c of the gators.

A good friend of ours grew up in Houma, Louisiana. He tells us how he and his friends used to swim in the bayou when they saw the gator sunning himself on a log. He said they knew it was safe then because they only ever saw the one. To which my husband responded "Jay, did you ever think there might be another gator in the water???" Apparently it never occurred to them.

We have a lake in back of our house and there's a gator there every morning, sunning himself on the banks. It's about 5-6 ft long. It stays on the opposite side of the lake, away from the houses and minds its own business.

The trouble starts if someone starts feeding it...

The town where the boy lived is in the town next to the house we just sold.
