How hectic is Chef Mickey?

I keep reading about the chaos at Chef Mickey's but my question is it only chaotic to those not traveling with children. For those of you with kids do you still consider it to be noisy and chaotic?

Thanks

I love Chef Mickey's I would call it a fun busy resturant with or without kids.
It's the best Disney feeling resturant in DW in my opinion.

I find it very hectic. However, my family (DH, DS15, DD11, DS7, and DS3) have all enjoyed it. We've been for breakfast twice and dinner once. I thought it was hectic from the very beginning but kept going back because I was the odd one out, but this upcoming trip noone wants to go there. I think they've finally had their "fill" of Chef Mickey's. One character meal we've yet to get tired of is 1900 Park Fare dinner.

If you've never been to Chef mickey's I'd say "Go!" Then decide for yourself if you should return or not. Even so, I agree with the previous poster regarding "best Disney feel".

We did the first dinner seating at 5:30 and didn't find it hectic at all. The characters came to our table multiple times and we never had trouble with crowds at the buffet line. By the time we left around 6:30, it was getting much busier and there was a huge line to check-in.

VERY.

And whatever you do don't go without an ADR - we had one and got seated promptly but there was a family there without one - the mother asked how long we'd been waiting when we were called and I told her just long enough to have our photos taken and she said Humph, we've been waiting an hour - I asked if she had an ADR and she said no - they'd decided to wing all their TS meals . I told her good luck; the line for the maitre d' was 20 people deep. :rolleyes1

On a Hectic scale of 1 - 10 (one being the least hectic) I'd give it a... hummm, let's see....25!

Ummm ... I'd agree with that. It's still fun, but it's generally not a relaxing experience! Especially if you have younger ones and are in charge of filling all the plates from the buffet. It's more like up, down, up, down, character coming, get the camera, WHAT DID YOU SAY?, up, down, bite of food, character coming ....

:lmao::lmao:

My husband and I have gone twice - both times for breakfast. It is a bit chaotic and the characters are usually very rushed (that has been my experience) however DH loves it. I on the other hand would rather go to Crystal Palace. If you've never been, give it a try though.

Ugh..that sounds a little annoying! :rotfl: I have an ADR there for my upcoming vacation, but maybe I should try to change it to Crystal Palace...:confused3

We did both last trip, and we will not return to Chef Mickey. Crystal Palace, however, is on the list for sure.

The 1st time I went to Chef Mickey's was in 2002 before kids for breakfast and it was busy, but IMO I don't think it was any busier than IHOP or Denny's on a Sat or Sun.

The last couple times I think it has been busier but I didn't notice it. Maybe because I've learned to tune my kids out. :rotfl2:

I've done both breakfast and dinner and prefer breakfast. It's a lot of fun to do at breakfast and gets you in the Disney mood for the day!

Its about the same as most charcter meals, I would call it a controlled chaos, most parents are walking with their kids so there is alot of movement and with 5 characters and some of the big names to kids they are very excited. It isnt like a free for all like at toys-r-us the day after thanksgiving but it can be loud but a very enjoyable and tolerable loud.

Imagine the energy and noise level of a Chuck E Cheese combined with a Golden Corral-type buffet. Lots of kids, people walking to/from the buffet, characters moving from table to table, camera flashes going off, and the occasional loud song where everyone starts wildly waving napkins around.

We did it a few times, but it's just not for us anymore.

We have gone several times for the breakfest and twice for dinner at Chef Mickey and never had a bad experience. If you want to get photos with the big four this will do it. If you want Winnie the Pooh then go to Crystal palace. All of the Character meals will have some noise. If you want a quite meal then don't do a character meal.Diseny has all your meal choices covered you just need to decide what do you really want and expect.

We always go to CM on our fist vacation day and yes, we (Myself & DD17) find it very loud/hectic. Last time we booked our dinner for 9:10pm. It was FABULOUS. I can't exactly say it was quiet, but definately more enjoyable.
